There’s roughly 15 variations for just chromosomes relating to sex. There’s roughly 8 common ones and sry gene being on or off is what shows gene expression in them. XX, XY, XO , XYY, XXY, XXX, XXYY, and XXXY. Then there’s sry for each variation. Every human has an X gene though or you would be dead. Also XO can happen from ether a Y gene breaking or a X gene breaking before its functions are used. Then there’s also mLOY in men to consider and other variations of your body’s development. I would say hormones define gender more then chromosomes as the sry gene is only defining genitalia and not body’s development. The body’s development is more from the interaction of the thyroid, GH, insulin, and hormones. GH being what you inherit from both your parents and insulin producing the tissue. Hormones such as estrogens and testosterones are the primary to determine gender at this point. This is why I simplify it to just the thyroid and hormones.
Now for the fun,
There can be xx males and xy females as this variable is sry determination alone. The genital characteristics don’t come from the xx or the xy rather the sry gene. So yeah there are men who are biologically female and females who are biologically male naturally and not just trans. There’s a 1 in 100 chance of this and most people don’t get dna tests done to determine genetics as it waists time, medical resources, and even if you find out your genes are not the one you expected there’s nothing you can do about it and your body won’t change because you have them.
Hrt is replacement for hormones to change or replace the dirrect batch of hormones the body naturally produces, we as humans need non natural sources of everything to survive and roughly 70% for all ages and 90% for anyone above 40 need this. To deny the fact that hrt is among some of these is just ignorance and in laymen’s terms blissfully stupid.
Each case of humans has different and direct results behind there interactions with doctors and medications as if someone is schizophrenic they are probably getting medication that’s not hrt to treat there schizophrenia. And if someone is transgender or intersexed they are probably not getting lithium to treat there body’s hormones. In other words if your not trans your not trans and if you are then you are. There are treatments for it and science agrees, yes it changes your body to resemble differences between sry and non sry activations in humans. So yeah you can be a guy or a girl regardless of how you were born. A medical chart will treat every human distinctly so it won’t even be a variable if they where born male or born female it will mater more of how there body has characterized itself over time, how its development has happened, what anatomical parts the body has and where they are located (some peoples body organs can be in different spots then others such as a hearts location), and the chemicals your body produces. So if your in the or and your not conscious medical professionals will still help you and provide the best results to a speedy recovery based on you and not some random person.
To summarize for you, medicine treats trans people with hrt, trans people are the respected gender they push to be, intersexed people exist, variations happen, and we all need medicine for survival.
Trying to put a nuance to sex and gender is like trying to fish with your face, sure you might catch something but is it correct or the best way to do it? No, no it’s not.
So why advocate for it?
Just some fruit for thought.
Trans women are women.
Trans men are men.
Intersexed people are here to stay.
LGBT people are here to stay.
Also a child doesn’t become cis or straight for seeing cis or straight people all the time. there would never be LGBT people to begin with if that was the case and they still exist everywhere just some are closeted because of country’s there in and laws.
