@Pilestedt@ShamsJorjani Email regarding a follow-the-sun SRE team has not been acknowledged, so I assume there is no interest in that. IMO (30+ years experience) you need that function and location diversity.
@NERDNATO1@Pilestedt@NotFalle There is absolutely a choice, but Sony made it for them. There are no technical or legal reasons (outside of sanctions) for countries to be locked out. This is a business decision. Don't get it twisted.
@Pilestedt@NotFalle@Isak_N This really isn't a very acceptable statement. It is your responsibility to make sure that all configuration files are in compliance with what the ultimate goals of your game and ultimate limitations of that game are. This is basic code quality.
@Pilestedt@helldivers2 Please revise your release candidate packaging and process to strip unreleased assets out. I like to be surprised. It is a fact of life that people will teardown the package and spoil the future.
Keep Super Earth secure!
@Pilestedt@ArrowheadGS You clearly need more people and need to diversify timezone. Lots of very talented people in US West timezones available with tons of scaling and SRE experience.
@jordan_bro48529 @helldivers2@Pilestedt I'm pretty sure nearly everyone at Arrowhead is working maximum allowed by law (Sweeden=48hr/wk averaged over 4 months).
The actual problem IMO (decades of industry experience) is not the troubleshooting/patching, but the reliability and scaling built up from was insufficient.
@helldivers2 Understandably this can't be done now, but I'd really love to see private servers (disconnected from the campaign) from the likes of GPortal, GTX, etc.
@_SNIDES_@helldivers2 They'll provide some "Please forgive us." loot. If that isn't enough for you, and waiting isn't an option, then apply for a refund.
@PeterP_85@nib95_@themarszeppelin@helldivers2 It may not be so simple to move money to an independent business unit.
If Sony has a Master Service Agreement with the server provider and subdivisions are allowed to make use of the MSA and Sony is allowed to pay, then maybe this works.
@NeverJustchoice@xMBGx@helldivers2 Of course, but you use your signals to gauge demand. There are ways to model demand. Capacity management is hard, but not impossible. I've done it at FAANG level scale for years, so I do have some idea what I'm talking about. :)
@GJX__@helldivers2 This was a supremely BAD idea when they already have capacity issues.
Sure! Incent more players to a server farm that is falling over. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
@helldivers2 Some are giving some slack because HD1 and HD2 have massively different use rate. I don't. You can see wishlist and preorder numbers, and dynamic server scaling on the big 3 clouds is pretty trivial.
Reliability eng and cap planning needs to be hired.
