When Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury on the Premier League’s opening weekend, Arsenal knew they needed to act. Andrea Berta initially proposed signing another striker, with Inter’s Francesco Pio Esposito one of the names floated.

Instead, they pivoted to sign a different kind of match-winner, snatching Eberechi Eze away from rivals Tottenham. Arsenal worked tirelessly to complete the necessary paperwork that enabled them to parade Eze ahead of the next fixture against Leeds.
