@cleanupbritain The issue here is that people think they are doing the right thing by leaving it near a bin as ‘someone will take it’ it’s just being unthinkably irresponsible as opposed to outright malice although still poor behaviour!
@morrisn_TeamS@Morrisons@HaltonBC Thank you for responding. All info needed is above but I can be more specific. A fridge door in chiller section that fronts onto main isle has been missing for several months. I have previously raised in store some months ago and was told it would be fixed and it hasn’t.
@Morrisons this fridge door in your Widnes branch has been broken for months. I’ve previously complained in store quite some time ago but nothing has been done! Its design is not open front please fix it! @HaltonBC
Good to see this fly-tipping conference happening. Clean Up Britain is in discussions to organise a national convention in 2027 on how to combat fly-tipping.
You gotta love Liverpools/Liverpool City Council’s underground bins that it uses in our city’s high density terraced neighbourhoods. Such a great solution to a very challenging problem ❤️@lpoolcouncil
@cleanupbritain Some local authorities are already using them. Liverpool City Council is one of them although the sites are limited. They are an excellent solution however their use depends on the ability to install them so they don’t interfere with other underground services. 👍🏻
@cleanupbritain It is a complete and utter travesty. Parts of our country are filthy. So many people are unthinkably irresponsible throwing litter, flytipping waste etc. Whether it is a cigarette, a bus ticket or bigger items such as fridges/mattresses please stop dumping…
@Feargal_Sharkey this was in Scarborough last week. electrical failure caused the CSO to discharge untreated sewage for 40 hours onto a surfing beach on a bank holiday weekend. totally unacceptable
@CllrNickSmall It is everybody’s responsibility to care for their environment where they live. If you can’t get out litter picking, please just do what you can. At the very least always be responsible for ALL your own waste at all times. Well done Cllrs. 🙏
With the roll put of Simpler Recycling, more households across England can recycle the same materials.
The aim is simple: make recycling easier, reduce confusion and increase recycling rates.
Our Recycle Now research has revealed UK households are wasting one billion items every year that could be recycled. Millions of recyclable bottles, sprays and toilet roll tubes are facing incineration, or landfill instead of being transformed into new products.
We're taking a look at some of Britain's most binned items to reveal their true value, once properly recycled.
We're starting with the 84 million plastic trigger spray bottles that are thrown away every year in the UK.
These PET plastic bottles and PP plastic trigger mechanisms can be recycled into new cleaning bottles or even fleece clothing for your next outdoors adventure.
By using our precious resources more intelligently we can create a world with higher standards of living — tackling climate change, protecting nature, and reducing inequality.

Noticed a bit of sauce left at the bottom of the jar?
Give it a quick rinse before you throw it in your blue bin to stop the food contaminating your recycling!
