O’Kane had “choked her so hard that she had lost consciousness”.
The judge said while “the custody threshold is certainly passed, I’m prepared to give him the opportunity to prove himself”
This is why some victims struggle to come forward. 😡

@kerrie_flood Funny how the same people shouting ‘not all men’ are also saying ‘but all migrant men’ there is an outright refusal to accept this is a home grown problem
When a woman is brutally murdered in her own home if your first reaction is A. not all men B. But what about male victims C. Feminism is the issue. You are part of the problem and I fear for the women around you
Today is the last of the #16DaysofActivism 🌍
Over the past 16 days, we have shared a snapshot about the reality faced by many women & girls here in NI.
Together, we can create a safer society for all.
Support info is below! Reach out if you or someone you know needs help.
This evening, we stood alongside the community in Lurgan for the candlelit vigil, “Remembering Her Light,” hosted by @WomensAidAD .We came together to honour the lives of 24 women tragically murdered in the North of Ireland since 2020 💜

@WomensAidAD Forever cherished, in our actions, their spirit finds new life. Through the pain is deep, hope remains. In the love we share, in the justice we seek. Together, we stand, united and strong, through their remembrance, our voices rise.
@WomensAidAD In the quiet moments, we remember the lives that were taken, the voices now silent. Their light, though dimmed, still shines within us. A beacon of strength, love, and resilience. We honour their memory with every breath. In our hearts, they live on.
The voices of children & young people are often not heard when we talk about the impact of domestic abuse.
Children & young people always deserve to have their voices, thoughts, and feelings heard and respected.

@WomensAidAD A vigil, a gathering of family, friends, & and community, coming together to remember and celebrate the lives of these women who have been ruthlessly taken from us. We encourage everyone to join us advocating for change. Let's make sure our government hears our voices & listen.
