@Lina_Hoshino@illunestudios Live2D as a software too feels buggier than other art or editing software, some issues with meshing and manipulations that never occurs on others is somewhat an issue to live2D cubism, Simple conversion of animated work into gif above 15 FPS is also an issue I encounter
Please check TOS' closely. Just because something is expensive does not mean you're buying every part of it.
I don't know the situation, but seeing the cost complaint when issues come up always hurts. Those thousands of dollars typically only barely cover the cost of labor🧵
The professional way to handle a rigging file is for the VTuber to seek consent from the original rigger and specify who this file should be shared with. The original rigger will directly share the file with the new rigger with a set of rules including privacy terms or an NDA to protect their work especially if you want the file to remain private. The source model file shouldn't just be handed out to every rigger out there, trust me, some riggers who I have shared my files with before used the files for their own benefit and without my consent AND they made profit off of it. You as a VTuber have no experience or understanding of the rigging file value so you need to be cautious and set up a proper protected process.
It's not guaranteed that everyone will credit that 90% being me, or if everyone will instantly know that I did most of the work, but for the sake of ease, Just don't mention me at all
It would've been nice if Live2D provides the same features of psd file or something where if you merge layers or folders together, You can't trace back or undo it but just speculate on how it was made
even if the same psd file that the artist used to draw on was provided to you
Last note, I think if Live2d made a non-edit mode where it can be baked in, where you cannot remove/duplicate certain items, and if a base body is given that way, it would be really cool. That way, the file can't be abused and can only be worked on top of! It would be safe for the client and artist 👍
It could be improvements, it could be worse, either way It's no longer a work of mine and mine alone, How would anyone know that I did 90% of the rigging but the 10% better or worse parts were not mine?
I wonder if a new way to export Live2D/cmo3 might be possible... one that safely retains the rigger's techniques while allowing some form of tweaking and addons 🤔 It would be very valuable if it can be developed
@Lina_Hoshino@illunestudios This entire "My artist/rigger ghosted me" issue could've been solved If all of this was considered in the first place, but without any technological knowledge on those field I'm just assuming that It's harder/impossible to unmerge a merged psd layers, same with cmo3 to moc3
@Lina_Hoshino@illunestudios - off, in some way. Turning a model that can't be modified into one that you can mess around with without touching the original one
but again, third party, Vtube Studio allows that not Live2D
