@NewStatesman@jennykleeman@emmahaslett Why wait for synthetic steaks when you can stop contributing to animal abuse today by switching to a plant based diet?

There’s actually a solid case that an average first-world citizen boycotting animal products has more of a positive environmental impact than a celebrity grounding their private jet (not to justify private jets, by any means).
Let’s break it down:
#RegenesisFact 15: How many chickens do you reckon are killed every year in the UK?
1 million? No.
10 million? No.
100 million? No.
1 billion.
Yes. 1 billion.
And even this meets only 75% of our demand. The rest are imported.
28 April 1943 | A French Jewish girl, Michèle Levy, was born in Paris.
She arrived at #Auschwitz on 20 December 1943 in a transport of 850 Jews deported from Drancy. She was among 505 people murdered in a gas chamber after the selection.
Terrible. This turtle was found tangled in the fishing gear that likely killed him.
Hundreds of thousands of whales, sharks, seals, & turtles are trapped & killed in discarded fishing nets EACH YEAR. We must do better. Protect #nature in all its forms.

@BingoDemagogue Of course basing purchases on flags is wrong, but sadly ‘free range’ hens still live a life of pain and suffering and lack adequate space (https://t.co/wYs3A3navL). The moral choice is probably no eggs at all.
@writethewrongs2 @DefraGovUK Indirectly, the best thing we can do to stop bTB related killings (badgers, Geronimo) is to just stop consuming cow products like milk, cheese and beef. If there’s no livestock, there’s no need to murder wildlife to protect it
