The most famous sun damage photograph in medicine shows a man aged twenty years on one side of his face, through glass, by the wavelength sunscreen was worst at blocking.

New England Journal of Medicine, 2012. William McElligott, 69, a delivery driver for 28 years.

Left side at the window. Right side in shade.

The left looks 86. The right looks his age.

Window glass blocks UVB almost entirely and lets UVA straight through.

So none of that damage was the burning ray. All of it was the ageing one.

Everybody shared that photo with the caption wear sunscreen.

Nobody checked whether the sunscreen blocked the thing in the picture.

SPF is an erythema measurement. It scores redness. It scores UVB. It has never scored UVA.

The United States approved 16 filters and added not one between 1999 and June 2026.

Its only broad UVA chemical filter, avobenzone, is famously photo-unstable and degrades in the light it is standing in.

The Environmental Working Group found many top-selling American sunscreens would fail Europe's UVA standard outright.

The FDA proposed strengthening those UVA rules in 2019, proposed them again in 2021, and has never finalised them.

Europe and Asia have been using better UVA filters since 2000.

So for a quarter of a century the American shelf sold a product that raised the SPF number, muted the burn, and left the wavelength that ages you largely untouched.

Which means the cream did not protect the driver. It removed his alarm and kept him in the seat.

They sold a burn suppressant, called it protection, and let the ray in the photograph do its work in silence.

Most don’t recognize it, because we are in the moment, but the world is currently undergoing a transformation unlike anything we have ever seen.

Once you understand the gravity of our situation and this period in history, Trump running in 2028 doesn’t sound so crazy. We are undergoing a transformation similar to WW2. We are at war with a global enemy, and defeat is not an option.

Eat a mouthful of grass and you get nothing. It goes in green and comes out green.

The grass she eats grew on rain and sunlight, for free, on a hillside nobody can plough.

She is the only creature on earth that can take a field of inedible fibre and hand you back the most nutrient-dense food there is.

The cow is not competing with you for food. She eats the ninety percent you cannot.

Best plant-based diet ever invented. It just has a cow in the middle doing the hard part.

And Jeanette Rubio who has watched her husband cross three continents in one week away from her away from their children for a country that may never fully know her name.

Four women. Four completely different sacrifices. One identical truth. They never asked America to see them. They never posted about what it costs. They never once made it about themselves. They just held everything together. Quietly. Completely. So their husbands could hold America. And today we just need every American to stop for one moment. It is OUR money!!

Concerning Social Security payments, my contributions were made for over 40 years on every salary I received. Those jobs may not have always been the work I wanted to be doing at the time, BUT I always had a job. The Social Security check is now (or soon will be) referred to as a "Federal Benefit Payment?" I'll be part of the one percent to forward this.
I am forwarding it because it touches a nerve in me, and I hope it will in you. Please keep passing it on until everyone in our country has read it. The government is now referring to our Social Security checks as a "Federal Benefit Payment." This isn't a benefit. It is our money paid out of our earned income! Not only did we all contribute to Social Security but our employers did too. It totaled 15% of our income before taxes.
Congress took our money and used it elsewhere. They forgot (oh yes, they knew) that it was OUR money they were taking. They didn't have a referendum to ask us if we wanted to lend the money to them. And they didn't pay interest on the debt they assumed. And recently they've told us that the money won't support us for very much longer. And now, to add insult to injury, they're calling it a "benefit", as if we never worked to earn every penny of it.
Just because they borrowed the money doesn't mean that our investments were a charity!
Let's take a stand. We have earned our right to Social Security and Medicare. Demand that our legislators bring some sense into our government.
Find a way to keep Social Security and Medicare going for the sake of that 92% of our population who need it. Then call it what it is: Our Earned Retirement Income.
