This morning reminds me of another Monday the 24th: 8/24/15. I'll never forget it. To this day, it was both the best & worst day of my trading career. Best because it was the biggest $ gain in a single day & week (I was loaded with index puts & VIX calls). However, the worst: +
Of course politicians aren't clean. That doesn't make this corruption any less egregious. Any politician guilty of corruption should be prosecuted. As for bump in net worth, most incidents happened after leaving office, usually because of paid speeches and writing books. The self-dealing and mega "gift" accepting (um, bribes) beyond the insider trading is even worse. Qatar luxury jumbo jet anyone?
To avoid potential conflicts of interest, Jimmy Carter voluntarily placed his family peanut business into a blind trust in 1977.
More modern examples:
@soup12171958 True, he is very dumb. Clever, cunning, and devious, but dumb. "And 'dumb' ends in a "b," which most people don't know." π€¦ββοΈπ
This is the correct answer. He does this with everything he has just learned, which he should have known since elementary school. The tell is when he starts with "Many people don't know..."
- "Dumb" ends in "b"
- Lincoln was a Republican
- "Groceries" is a word
- "Affordability" is a word
- Puerto Rico is an island, which means it is surrounded by water
- Many people die from the flu every year
- France is America's oldest ally
ETC.
He's way worse.
To be clear, I don't think ANY politician should be allowed to trade on insider information. That being said, DJT's trading while in office just this second term overshadows the total amount **combined** of everyone in Congress. It is not even close. Not to mention the timing of the trades put on right before major market moves in oil and index futures, resulting from perfectly timed tweets.
You know that if ANY other president of either party did this, not only would they be impeached, but they would be prosecuted. I'm old enough to remember US presidents had to follow the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution while in office. He violates the Constitution daily, so what's with another little clause of it, right? #sarcasm
