“The junk merchant doesn't sell his product to the consumer, he sells the consumer to his product. He does not improve and simplify his merchandise. He degrades and simplifies the client.”
~William S. Burroughs, Naked Lunch
Lmao. At this point if you can’t see Democrats are controlled opposition and exist to occupy the space of where a real working class party should be then you are either paid not to or way too comfortable with the status quo.
Kevin O'Leary claimed 90% who opposed his enormous Stratos datacenter project in Utah were bused in. In reality he, as a Canadian business owner, was 'bused in'.
I've broken down how something called MIDA was used to allow the datacenter to be approved & what it means for Utah:
If a socialist state caused this level of suffering, the West would never stop calling them “victims of communism.” But when capitalist powers do it through sanctions and economic warfare, the victims are erased from the narrative.
They shot a Palestinian boy in his back and then shot him again 4-5 times.
If any other country executed a child like this, it would be front-page news.
What the fuck does "defending [x] over [y] even mean". It's not Love Island for chrissake. All people are doing is pointing out that "the most prominent leftist elected official in the country" is a disingenuous climber who can't even rise to the level of plain rhetorical candor and party treason of a right-wing populist, and who shows consistent signs that she will trade principle for advancement. If you care about Palestine and/or the genuine left gaining power, you should care about that.
The White House just dropped a new “counterterrorism strategy” that quietly expanded the definition of terrorist by lumping cartels, ISIS, "left-wing extremists"… and "anarchists" into the same “threat” category.
The first page of text ends with the phrase:
“We Will Find You and We Will Kill You.”
That is printed above the president’s signature.
The language in the document is broad and open-ended. Once political labels become national security threats, the target can change overnight.
This is how mission creep starts:
Today it’s cartels. Tomorrow it’s dissidents.
It would be so easy and politically advantageous for AOC to apologize for this. Just say: "It was an aspirational statement -- hoping to encourage Kamala to work tirelessly for a ceasefire." Instead it covered up for an administration tirelessly enabling a genocide.
One of the silliest contradictions in the Zionist narrative is that it is simultaneously (A) antisemitic to criticize Israel and (B) antisemitic to conflate Israel with all Jews.
Zionists will officially claim that it is possible to criticize Israel without being antisemitic, but that's not actually their position in practice. We know this because there is not a single vocal and forceful critic of Israel who isn't regularly accused of antisemitism by Zionists. Not one. They might let you get away with a rare timid critique of individual Israeli officials, but consistently and vocally criticizing the apartheid state of Israel itself (and your own government's alliances with it) is strictly forbidden.
When you consistently slam literally all of Israel's critics as antisemites, you are communicating that all criticism of Israel is antisemitic, and that Israel therefore represents all Jews. You are therefore necessarily doing the very thing you decry as antisemitic.
The Times of Israel just published a 2,000 word book review of "The New Antisemitism."
But the review failed to mention even a single concrete example of an antisemitic incident.
The book should be re-named, The New Antisemitism Hoax.
Instead, they brokered and cheered on the Abraham Accords, which led to the entirely predictable consequences, as described in @mattduss’ excellent piece. What is insane is the refusal of their proponents to see this. 4/4
True, the API had delivered nothing to the Palestinians - because Israel rejected it and, crucially, the US and other Western allies failed for 20 years to pressure Israel to take up this historical offer. 3/4
The Abraham Accords dealt a huge blow to that prospect, because they’re based on Israel *not having to make peace* with Palestinians. For Netanyahu (just as Bennett) they were designed to bury the Palestinian issue and 2SS - as clear from their statements and actions. 2/4
This of course turns the reality on its head. It is the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative that “held (and still holds) the potential for expanded regional integration that would support and include Israeli-Palestinian peace”. Backed by 57 Arab/Muslim countries. 1/4
During the "ceasefire," the colonial jewish supremacist entity:
1) destroyed 140,000 acres of Lebanese farmland, roughly the size of Chicago, or 78,000 football fields of cultivated food.
2) killed over 1.8 million poultry & livestock.
3) destroyed irrigation networks and other facilities used for food production.
4) they uprooted tens of thousands of acres of fruit trees, especially banana and olive.
5) displaced nearly 80% of Lebanon's farmers in the south.
6) destroyed more than 29,000 beehives
7) destroyed aquaculture—more than 2000 tons of fish.
They are destroying Lebanon's ability to feed itself, in addition to killing at least 2,727 people, and wounded 8,438.
