My take on the fauna of the backrooms (the still lifes, captain Clark and bacteria- assuming that’s even there)

These are all fundamentally formed by the same process: the backrooms trying to “remember” certain people. I imagine this is exacerbated if the person actually enters

Well, unless the rooms forget they should be alive, in which case they may skip straight to object and then fade away. It’s unlikely but the inherent randomness of what’s forgotten means it’s completely unpredictable what pattern something will degrade in!
