As we enter into lockdown 3.0 I urge UKRI to revisit this decision. Our PhD students deserve better. Our current circumstances are clearly a valid reason for an extension. Researchers cannot be asked to compromise or change their projects because this pandemic has stolen time.
And so it begins...
Pesticide believed to kill bees and other pollinators has been authorised for use in England - despite an EU ban two years ago and a previous government pledge to keep the restrictions.
Save the bees!

The central nervous system has a poor inherent ability to regenerate, in our work we look to stimulate its building blocks, neurons, using charge produced by power- autonomous piezoelectric scaffolds @H_Khanbareh@BowenNEMESIS@csctbath#csct20#healthcaretechnology#PhD
@VijayakanthT_A5@csctbath 2. The bacteria cell count decreases as the solution is cycled cold to hot/above the Curie temperature (Tc) & the reactive oxygen species are produced. Cycling around the Tc of BST also means we’re getting the benefit of the high pyroelectric coefficient observed close to the Tc
@VijayakanthT_A5@csctbath Thanks for the Q's!
1. In theory, the BST could be used for an infinite number of cycles as the surface is ‘reset’ with each temp cycle. I’ve gone to 40+ cycles. I’m yet to investigate whether build up may be an issue over time, especially in the porous materials.
I synthesise and produce high surface area, lead-free, pyroelectric materials that can operate at ambient temperatures. The materias could be designed for use as energy harvesting devices, utilising waste heat or natural daily temperature fluctuations ☀️🌙
Huge positive news on @UKRI_News policy fiasco.
Sources confirm @ESRC DTP Directors are collectively contesting policy decision and are raising concerns about effects on PGRs.
RT and spread word that asking DTPs and senior university staff to raise objections is working!
We're getting more and more PGRs forwarded to us by academic staff. Want to know more about what you can do about new UKRI policy and other PGR issues? Check out our linktree (also in bio)

We have teamed with @CambridgeUCU@GraduateUnion on an open letter from PGRs to @UKRI_News asking them to listen to PGRs and their own evidence.
Please sign it and share through all your networks. With your consent we will be offering support to local organising efforts.

Also, give @PandemicPGRs a follow for more info on how to get involved and make our voices heard! The ongoing neglect of PGRs by both institutions and funding bodies is shameful.
UKRI ignored every single recommendation on support for PGRs in the NatCen report. They've just thrown non-final year PGRs under the bus after months of keeping us in the dark. Please sign this: https://t.co/QPtH41ORsW
