Last thing I'll say on this bullshit for a little bit:
Usopp's vision on the Giants of Elbaf was always aspirational; something to look up to and strive for
Literally as fundamental to shaping his idea of a warrior as Shanks was to shaping Luffy's idea of a pirate
More than anyone else on the crew, Usopp's dream has been one and the same with his character journey
And this dream from Little Garden has been explicitly tied to Elbaf and its warriors
It baffles the mind to think that any writer would think to end this journey in Water 7
I think it's fine, the main sticking point is just having a realized sense of self that you're willing to impose on the ever-changing world; not necessarily one absent of outside influence
That being said I'm still not much of a fan of this plotline for Zoro
@JadenYukisan@Neo__Uma That's fair, but icl I lump a lot of that in with Oda just keeping his options open similar to his silhouettes and vague language as opposed to having a clear vision he just doesn't want the reader to catch on to
Genuinely one of the most pathetic characters in the series you'll never catch me feeling bad for him 😭
Only useful thing he could do is leaving his devil fruit behind for someone with a backbone 🙏
@JadenYukisan@Neo__Uma Yeah this is something we'll just have to disagree on because I really don't consider the deniability that plausible, tbh
It's something where I just can't see a writer coming into those scenes with the intention of keeping Zoro ignorant of his power writing it the way he did
@JadenYukisan@Neo__Uma This I do definitely consider an internet problem in general, but especially a Twitter problem specifically
It's like you have to speak with objectivity or it's considered weakness to your position
@JadenYukisan@Neo__Uma I won't say the current defenses are logically impossible, but I consider it to be so improbable that 'taming Enma' and 'becoming King of Hell' just translates to 'giving Enma more haki and letting it do the work' and 'wordplay for his new sword'
@JadenYukisan@Neo__Uma My full opinion on this plotline is that this is Oda somewhat walking back how far he went in Wano (which isn't a bad thing) either to have Zoro and Sanji unlock it at the same time or just to lower Zoro's perceived power level
This page is the main reason I just cannot parse the Zoro Anxiety explanation with his ignorance, cause there's no way he's in his head about being 'strong enough' 24/7, hears this and then somehow doesn't think he can use it at all; not just can't control it or tap into it
@Neo__Uma I do think it will be covered, but moreso from the perspective of it being a WG sin
I imagine if VP woulda been taken to task for his role and use of them, it would have happened in Egghead
"Homogenizing the crew" really only works as an argument if you expect the bare minimum effort for incorporating haki into their fighting styles, and is also just flat out an insult to haki as a power system in general
@Tyrocks12ty I know folks say haki would homogenize the crews fighting styles but I heavy disagree , Nami with COO in combat would only add and work with her elusive abilities not make her fight like the monster trio
And COO being connected to navigation proficiency would’ve been cool imo
