After four years of treatment for MCC, we lost the legendary musician Jimmy Buffett just over a year ago at the age of 76. His music celebrated a carefree lifestyle, encouraging us to enjoy the sun and live life to the fullest.

Sunbed use is bad news at any age and dramatically increases the risk of both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancer. They are classified as a group 1 carcinogen - the highest cancer risk category.

BCCs usually present on areas of skin most frequently exposed to UV radiation such as scalp, face, ears, neck & forearms.Large or neglected BCCs can cause extensive local invasion & disfigurement due to surgery so if you detect anything of this nature no matter how small see a GP

AROUND 70% OF MELANOMA ARE ‘SUPERFICIAL SPREADING MELANOMA’ & FOLLOW THE ABCDE RULE.Superficial spreading melanoma’s the most common form of melanoma that can arise from a seemingly normal/healthy pre-existing mole or freckle.However,the majority around 70% appear as a new mole!
