WE WON this historic referendum w/79% of vote! #YesOn3—a civil rights question on 2021 Boston municipal ballot to restore ELECTED School Committee. #ElectTheBSC
JUSTICE DENIED 99K voters demanded an end to Mayoral Control of BPS in Nov 21. The mayor today confirmed that she refuses to be held accountable to those voters, saying now is not the time.
We believe the time is ALWAYS right to do justice, so this fight isn’t over. 1/

"Justice delayed is justice denied."
Mayor Michelle Wu and some Boston City Councilors have said now is not the time to make the change to an elected school committee. But @CarCarll of @ElectTheBSC disagrees. Hear why: https://t.co/2HS1cfePff
Great letters to the editor in today's Globe from BESC's own Mary Battenfeld & from BLA teacher @MichaelJMaguire — thank you both for your clear-eyed look at the state of the school committee itself & the rhetoric surrounding it.

Lawrence deserves to have its elected school committee working for them, not to have seats stripped away as they finally move toward ending receivership.
https://t.co/KqWugmELTX
The appointed school committee is NOT working in Boston, as 79% of voters will tell you, and Lawrence doesn't deserve to have their elected representation stripped away, either. Esp not as Lawrence finally moves away from receivership!!
gonna shock exactly no one that the Globe's opiners think that Lawrence should "experiment" with a partly appointed school committee
#MAEdu
Funny how we never "experiment" with the Metrowest suburbs, isn't it.
This proposal to shift from an elected committee to a majority-appointed one is now at the state level. We have until Wednesday, December 4, at 5 PM to urge state officials to reject this change and allow the current school committee to continue our transition to local control.
In 2021, nearly 100k Boston residents voted to @ElectTheBSC , in 2023 the @BOSCityCouncil passed a Home Rule Petition to honor the will of the voters but unfortunately it was vetoed by @CityOfBoston administration. In hopes of restoring trust we're giving democracy another chance
Great analysis by @PeterTPiazza and more reasons to vote #Yeson2! "Report often cited by MCAS backers isn't as pro-MCAS as they say" https://t.co/aFufrnTcZ8 via @cwbeacon
Thank you to @juliaforboston@VoteWorrell & @ben4district6 for their clear acknowledgement of Boston's lack of elected representation in our school committee and that this has an effect on our schools, esp the budget!
#ElectTheBSC
It's critical we begin discussions on the FY26 BPS budget early enough to make meaningful impacts for @BostonSchools & most importantly, our students.
Thank you to @VoteWorrell, @juliaforboston & @ben4district6 for introducing today’s hearing order to kick off the process!
At the @massedjustice press conference where Colin Jones from @MassBudget is explaining why not properly accounting for inflation is shortchanging our schools and undermining the Student Opportunity Act. #mapoli

@SueNBCBoston Oh, yes! But that’s less relevant to Q of who Progressives choose to endorse. You make good point that it’s not a binary. We shouldn’t automatically assume that if she’s not one, she’s the other.
Progressive endorsers should be seeking more than just “not conservative.”
