@GoblinCavePod@adventurersrole In our campaign each character has an element they control... They were going down a really long staircase so combining all their powers they made a sled to go down quickly. Shadow for the board, moss and water for the stairs and lightning to increase speed into a dragons den.
@HN2DM For me it just depends on several things. How long a campaign will be and how sandboxy it'll be. Because introducing one from the start when the players may just leave the area and never return doesn't work the best but the earlier the better if possible.
@tkjoinsthefray You've been out to sea for a few months and unknown faces are growing on the ship each day. Friends recognize people that surely couldn't have been there at the start.
@MN_DnD_Unicorn@adventurersrole I Dm and my favorite thing is when I make a character I think my players will have a blast with. Usually I like to take a creature I recently learned about and like dramatizing part of it's lore. Like an emperyean who uses his power of dance and party to power a spaceship
@quinnthegm I had a vampire that was asking for help around town because he'd apparently been outside his mansion for too long and needed someone to invite him back inside so the players did and got a free room for the night. (He was very obviously a vampire but was like no I'm... not...)
@DungeonGlitch I played a hexblade that uses blur on herself and a shield with mage armor invocation and so she had like 18 ac and was front lining with blur. It was fun while still having all the magic capablities.

A little critical role animatic I made for ep 141 of campaign 2 ^^ so spoilers if you're interested. I loved that scene so freaking much though #DnD
@DungeonBaker1@adventurersrole To continue on with this, your characters learn from battle not from the final blow so it's not farfetched. Also if you do it well you're players will have a story that not many people at all have about how one battle even changed them.
@DungeonBaker1@adventurersrole I think in very special cases you can use the level up as story telling with it. Like if something changes majorly in the battle for the players when ending the session it can feel like a second wind/ understanding of oneself. Although if it's just that a battle is going long eh?
@caffeinated_dan Ay here is our crew ^^. It's pretty fun because our crew is filled with artists so we often send each other art we draw of our campaign and stuff which is always a lot of fun ^^
