#28: Resident Evil 2 (PS1)
Here's my review of what is easily among the best PS1 games I've ever played. The dual campaign structure is still totally unique and the police station vibes are impeccable.

Ive arrived at about the halfway point in FF6, the World of Ruin! I've been mostly using four party members that I like the most, but guides tell me that the final boss uses all 12 of them, so I've got to start training the rest of the party too.
@curseofthesox I didn't even notice that when I played it! Great observation. If I may offer some advice: don't be shy about upgrading Rudy's ARMs whenever you can. They're by far the best weapons in the game and will make most boss fights a breeze.
Final Fantasy VI is giving me a new appreciation for minimalist storytelling. This game accomplishes so much with so little. I can't imagine how cool it must have been to experience in 1994.
@Weeezin Totally agree with points 1 and 3, although I personally loved the breakable weapons! But wouldn't mind seeing a new way of progression either. But...the TotK producer said that open world is "the new format to proceed from" for the series in 2023. So this may not happen, sadly.
@Weeezin Me too, I'm hoping for a more polished version with perhaps some extra quests and quality-of-life improvements, but nothing drastically different. Though "remake" is such a broad term, Nintendo could go in many directions with it. I'm just hoping it's good, whatever it is.
Personally, I'd love for the Ocarina of Time remake to be a return to the more linear style of gameplay that the series maintained in the past- not entirely railroaded, but also not a straight open world design like Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom.
Love to see remasters of older JRPGs, and last-gen support too. I haven't played a Tales game before, but I do have Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS that I still need to get to.
Since I'm trying to play through all of the single-player entries, I bought a copy of Final Fantasy XIII. It'll be a great excuse to turn on my Xbox 360, which hasn't been used for about a decade.
Wow. The pace of Final Fantasy VI is really something. It just keeps moving in a way that no previous entry does- switching up locations, characters, and gameplay styles.
Up next: Final Fantasy VI. I've played through 1-5, and it feels like everything has been leading up to this one. I'm excited to see what all of the hype is about- I've seen it called a masterpiece countless times.
@curseofthesox Awesome. Me too, it's hard to pick a favorite, but Ripto and Year of the Dragon are both ones I love. I'm a little put off by the clear "flying" theme of this new one... Spyro is all about gliding and platforming, and flying only as a temporary power-up. But I'm still hopeful.
Amazing news, I've been wanting a new Spyro for so long! I just hope it's good. I'm not a big fan of the ultra epic film score music, which doesn't fit the vibe of the PS1 trilogy at all, but I've got an open mind since that's just the way modern game trailers tend to be.
The new Spyro game could end up being what makes me finally buy a PS5. I haven't felt a need to get one yet, because I have so much to play already on the PS4.
