Cannot believe its been a week since I gave a talk on mapping complex sentence constructions, including CA and simultaneously uttered predicates in Role and Reference Grammar on the RRG conference 2021. Time flies! π
This. Exactly this. π€£
The slippery sloppery grounds of natural language data, and yet: so fascinating!! π (imagine excited squealing while drowning).
Oh the excitement!! Exactly one week until my talk at RRG conference #RRRG2021 I'm so looking forward to this! I managed to reach 19:54min in my last practice run π also, I now have nice pics and videos instead of blurry ones, and my syntax tree is now version 4.56 π Eeexcited!
@FOtte6@marc_schulder I think, if I stop breathing for the talk, than I'll make it in 20 exactly ππ»π thanks to most valuable feedback by @FOtte6 and yes, checking the transitions and "filler" sentences again ππ»
Ah, the joy of #PhDlife π
My first practice run of the 20min talk I'm to give next week on #RRRG2021 conference took 28 minutes. Hoooow am I supposed to shorten it by 8(!!!) minutes??? (yes, I considered talking faster π)
@academia_guide Oh, also, the talk is 20minutes and I have 20 slides including references. So I tried to make sure that I need around a minute for each slide, anything more was cut out as too much / too detailed. :)
The poster I did with my colleague @CorneliaLoos12 for #FEAST2021 (Are we DONE yet? A corpus-based analysis of DONE as a sentence-boundary diagnostic in DGS) will be published on the @DgsKorpus projects' website soon!
Again, quite late: #CL2021 is over. It took me quite some time to think about what I wanted to tell the twitter-universe,... Still not quite sure. I wasn't exactly happy with this conference, as there were many technical issues in the online conference platform,...
Thanks for coming by and take a look at our poster :) it was lovely meeting other sign language researchers on a conference that focused on text / spoken language corpora. Although technics were not impressive (translate this to: "not working"), I'm glad we managed somehow ππ»π
Really been enjoying @CL2021IE. Also had the pleasure of meeting @ElenaJahn and colleague presenting on #DGS. Great to see other research on #SignLanguage at this conference. Special shout out to @markoriain @Jane_Seely@Gail_Flan and @deborahtobin11 for great discussions ππ»
Just saw a poster by @ballerina2193 at @CL2021IE on the recognition of Irish Sign Language and the public vs. political discourse surrounding this. SO exciting, especially as I am interested in social media, public relations and science communication π€ππ» well done!!
#CL2021 I'm looking forward to present a poster with my colleague @CorneliaLoos12 tomorrow at @CL2021IE ππ» it's about time-aligned translation tags / the manual sign DONE and to what extent they indicate sentential boundaries in the @DgsKorpus
