@DoctorDoctorBi@nursekelsey Being humble and knowing our limits is also a critical skill for practicing medicine. I deeply value the skills our nursing colleagues bring to the table and would never presume to be the expert in the room at nursing tasks
@DoctorDoctorBi@nursekelsey Not sure how putting in a difficult urinary cather is a vital skill for a cardiologist π good to know how to do but one person can't possibly good at every skill in medicine and knowing our strengths and weakneas is critical for patient care
@Lioness79457760 @shmeshmergency @nursekelsey Yup. As a cardiology Fellow I promise the only kind of catheter anyone wants me doing is a lhc or rhc. There are so many skills in medicine, one person cannot possibly be the best at all. Teamwork makes the dream work
@michael_train10 It's nice to keep the patient informed first and foremost. I also preface some statements with "I'm going to talk some shop right now, and I'll answer all the questions you have after"
@michael_train10 I've found that when responding to rapids my favorite thing is to talk directly to the patient and give my instructions to other staff that way
@michael_train10 "hi I'm Dr. Segre and there are a lot of people in your room right now because x. Can you tell me how you are feeling?.... I'd like to give you some fluids/do imaging/etc because I'm worried about x. X is the next steps what questions do you have"
@jtrebach Learning to call poison control is one of the top 10 skills I learned as a pgy1 in the ICU. Always so grateful to have them on board in a toxin case

As a follow-up to a recent tweetorial on furosemide and gut edema, let me offer a 3-part ode to torsemide.

@ShariqShamimMD Briefly scrolling through, the bottom left looked like a spooky Halloween related case. Turns out fact is scarier than fiction π Thanks for sharing!
I haven't yet mastered how to balance giving hope and giving reality with critically ill patients' family. What is the best way to do no harm? #MedTwitter#Covid_19

@rinoah77 @screamingmd @DrCasteelEM@reverendofdoubt The problem is when instead of decreasing the number of shifts to do 12s, residents just work 6 12s. For sure I'd rather work 6 8s
