Not long after her marriage to him she made a video on her channel talking about how being gay isn't how you are born, but a choice. She said as long as you don't do the gay action, you aren't gay. Pensions is a bit over half the welfare budget all on its own. Above 80 percent of fraud in welfare is in pensions. Pensions are not even means tested. If you want to go after fraud you'd target pension fraud. Should be means tested too.

The scale is enormously bigger than any pro lem you think you can identify on UC or pip or whatever.

You don't need to get them back to work, because they are in work. UC is not a benefit for unemployed people only. Most of them do work. It's just they work zero hours, part time, temporary type jobs that you can't fully live off, so UC acts as a supplement to poor wages/hours.

I don't think it's really an issue. Obviously there are some people who are deliberately not working ever, but they'll do that regardless. Measures to go after them will mostly just hurt everyone else and I don't think it's worth bothering since the scale of the problem isn't that bad relative to others.

For the 20 hours work thing, I think it's a horrible idea. If it's for working for businesses, then it's just incentivising business to not hire people, and just use the free labour from the unemployed. If it's for picking up rubbish on the street etc then that will be worthless on a CV, and you'd also need to hire tons of people at the DWP to supervise them.

Real problem with almost everything in this country is just immigration. Foreigners should not get benefits but they do. Illegals get benefits too. They get free houses and all kinds of stuff, and handwaved through the benefits systems assessments, given easy points on the tests and stuff for medical things.

Sort that stuff and you'd save many many billions.

Anyway benefits are great and entirely affordable once you stop importing the third world and that's really the only issue as far as I'm concerned. So much public discourse is dedicated to the welfare system solely because it's a nice scapegoat for scum politicians who won't do a thing good. They'll kick the whites off benefits, so they can pay for more third world imports. When they talk about getting people "back to work", they aren't talking about m'butu and n'bongo. Most people on UC are employed anyway actually but they ignore that.

Most people on UC are employed at any one time though. 🤷The idea of them all being lazy scroungers or whatever just isn't true. How many are like that? 2%? 1%? All this fuss over a relatively tiny number of people, which avoids the real problems.
UC is not just an "unemployment benefit".
You get people off of UC by them getting a full time permanent job, and such jobs are in short supply relative to the demand. That's the real problem. Another real problem is immigration. Legal and illegal. Stop giving all kinds of handouts to legal and illegal people, don't let them claim benefits either. Pensions are the real black hole in the welfare system however.

Reforms base is pensioners though. Them and the other parties will also do fuck all about immigration. That's why you get so much public discourse being about a miniscule number of people being scroungers who never work ever despite being eligible to do so. It's just a scapegoat.

I wrote that in the tweet you previously responded to. It's what happened when Labour tried to change benefits under Starmer, and had to do a big climb down because of the rebellion from their MP's. It wasn't that long ago.

Reform aren't any different in this though. All the parties are like this. Bizarrely, Labour have historically been the toughest on benefits and yet have somehow gained this weird reputation of giving handouts to everyone.

Labours plans under Starmer when they tried to change welfare would have seen people deemed by the DWP as "unable to feed, clothe, or wash themselves" having to look for work. Reform would not support this, because they felt it did not go far enough.

Cant wash your own asshole but expected to go to work. As if anyone would even hire you.

You may believe that people with genuine need should get benefits, but Reform and the other parties do not.
