@norwegianesc@fan_eurovision The whole world will. Norway has become the people’s team.
Everyone in the US has Norwegian Wood right now (if you don’t get that, it’s both a dumb Beatles joke and a dumb dick joke).
Never saw this before. It’s great!
I always figured Barrett-era Floyd was an influence on MGMT, especially their killer 2nd album Congratulations.
Roger Waters later took Pink Floyd to unimaginable heights - but even if they’d broken up after Syd left they’d still be legends.
Remembering Syd Barrett, who passed away 20 years ago today…
Here are MGMT covering "Lucifer Sam" during Pink Floyd Week on 'Late Night' in 2011.
"They were excited about that because none of the other artists was representing that era," Andrew VanWyngarden later told Stereogum. "We dressed like crab fishermen, and then Bradford Cox was dressed as Joey Ramone playing an Akai quarter-inch tape reel machine that we had found on the street. It was actually the one that's all over 'Oracular Spectacular.'"
Tenacious Dio. Awesome.
The Tenacious D movie isn’t perfect but the first 10 minutes are genius. I love this behind the scenes moment of the late Ronnie James Dio recording his part for the epic opening song.
Madonna got big just as I reached the age where music became my obsession (which hasn’t changed).
And as cheesy and annoying as she can be, I’ve loved her ever since.
As a lifelong fan, I think her apex is 2000-2008: Music, American Life, Confessions, Hard Candy, with Confessions being her peak.
Now we get a sequel. A crass, cynical attempt to stay relevant by referencing a past glory? Sure.
But MUCH better than I expected.
There’s no “Hung Up,” but her continued willingness to be honest about the darkest sides of herself in her lyrics makes these songs far more interesting than 99% of the music made by people young enough to be her grandkids.
@JukeBoxNonStop Not my favorite version/mix of this wonderful song but WOW this video is great. Don’t think I’ve seen it before. Has to be Anton Corbijn (spelling?), right? If so one of his best.
@OTROTDPhD It’s actually the Beatles or the Smiths. But yeah DM is up there in the top 5 with Led Zep and Joy Division / New Order (they’re the same band in my book).
