This is a student run page to show what life is like in TUM´s Elite Biomedical Neuroscience program. It emphasizes neuroscience and neuro-psychiatric diseases.
Using their NMJs to the maximum potential! 🧠
Some BmN students participated in the Wings for Life race on Sunday! All funds go to Spinal Cord Research 🔬
The application process for the 2023 Winter Semester is open! For any questions please dm us! 🧠🔬 More information can be found on:

@_tanyabhandari_ Hi Tanya, as students those of us who run this page are not part of the application process. Many of us heard back in June and July, but there could be exceptions. COVID affected the application timeline in some previous years.
Our application deadline is May 31st. As a lot of you fill out your applications, we are happy to answer any questions you have about life in our program. Comment your questions on this post.
@_tanyabhandari_ Hi Tanya, We are students and therefore cannot make any remarks about the admission process rejection and application standards. I suggest you email [email protected]
@RazanHijazi99 Hi Razan. This can vary based on the number of applicants and interviews. Many of us received our offer of admission in August or earlier. We each had very unique experiences with admissions decision timelines though.
We recently had our graduation ceremony with students who joined the program in 2019/2020. As a coordinator and lecturer, Professor Helmuth Adelsberger was in close contact to them throughout their studies. He was very happy to see almost all of them for this great social event!
@phoebee_writes Sure. You can find the requirements here: https://t.co/sWXxn1tcZ0
The application link can be found here: https://t.co/nvrk9MQNSG
First the admission team will review your application. This is round 1. If this is successful, you will be invited for round 2, which is an interview.
Are you interested in our program? Do you have any questions about what our admissions process has been like from a student perspective? Students will be answering your general questions this week. Comment your questions below and we will do our best to answer them.😀
Student Rebecca James has recently worked in the @serwanelab. She loves working with such a diverse group of physicists and neuroscientists. Becca wants to express genetically encoded calcium sensors in retinal organoids to explore the mechanics of the retinal neural network.
Cassandra, a BMN alumnus, is now a PhD student in the HaPpY European doctorate program and will be doing a dual doctorate between the University of Cadiz and Laval University studying pharmaceutical targets to address the comorbidity of chronic pain and depression. @HaPpYejd2021
Lucía Rodríguez Martínez, a second-year student in our program, recently started working on her Master's thesis on "direct reprogramming of macrophages to neurons in vitro" at the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Magdalena Götz at the Institute of Stem Cell Research.
Fritz Kagerer recently went abroad! He did a rotation at the ELSC for Brain Sciences of The Hebrew University. He worked in the memory lab of Prof. Goshen, but can't remember what exactly he did there... it´s good they do not study his brain but focus on mice as a model.
Want to study abroad? 🌍Several of us have studied abroad during our program. Lisa Rottenfußer is currently in Israel working on a project to map the pain related innervation of the rodent gut. We miss you here in Munich @lrottenfusser
Did you know that our program has an intercultural summer school? We partner with the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Brain Sciences of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem in Eilat, Israel to promote international scientific discourse. 🌏🌍🌎
