WHAT DOES THE 25-YEAR-OLD FUNDING LABOR ACTUALLY OWN? START WITH $700,000 OF YOUR MONEY.

Felix Lee is 25. He reportedly pledged around $1 million to Labor and hosted the Prime Minister at his family’s Point Piper mansion. Here is what he holds and controls in Australia, on the record.
Nothing here is hidden. Every fact comes from corporate records, the courts and published reporting.

That is the point.

He is a director of the Terrey Hills Golf and Country Club, one of Sydney’s most exclusive clubs. Corporate records show he was appointed at the age of 20, in a November 2020 board reshuffle that installed him and his mother, Xiaobei Shi. The club is owned through Landmark Development and Finance Group, of which Ms Shi is sole director and owner.

In 2020 that club took more than $700,000 in JobKeeper, the Commonwealth’s pandemic wage subsidy, in a year it posted a $2.9 million profit. The year before, it had lost $3.72 million. Taxpayer support, paid to an exclusive golf club, in its best year. There was no obligation to pay it back.

Less than six months later, the Federal Court froze the club, with sixteen other properties, as the Tax Office pursued the family for a debt recorded at over $272 million.

So follow the public money both ways. The same family the Commonwealth is chasing for $272 million had, through this club, already taken $700,000 of Commonwealth money in a profitable year.

He runs two investment vehicles. The Lee Family Office, Sydney, Newcastle, Singapore, Hong Kong, states its objective as acquiring “real estate-backed assets and operating businesses.” The second, Lee Family Investments, publishes its positions in its own words: Healthcare and Biotechnology, Technology and AI, Community Infrastructure, and Defence Industries.

He was, until its collapse, the major shareholder in the neobank in1bank, where the prudential regulator APRA was recorded as “not satisfied” with the bank’s due diligence of him.

Fair reading.

Accepting JobKeeper a business qualified for was lawful, and thousands did; the absence of any clawback was a Commonwealth design choice, not a Lee decision. No misconduct is alleged against Felix Lee. Every fact comes from a corporate, court or published record.

The point is architecture. A 25-year-old whose family owes the Commonwealth $272 million, whose exclusive golf club took $700,000 of Commonwealth money in a bumper year, who ran a bank the regulator was “not satisfied” about, reportedly pledged $1 million to the party that governs all of it, and hosted the Prime Minister to dinner.

LABOR'S OWN FOUNDATION: $7 MILLION TO THE PARTY, $18 MILLION IN THE BANK

Everybody who follows Australian politics has heard about the Cormack Foundation. The associated entity through which the largest corporate donations to the Liberal Party flow. Cormack has paid the Liberal Party of Australia (Victorian Division) $51.4 million and the federal party $12.9 million since 1998-99, on the AEC record, grand total outflows of $66.98 million.

Here is the Labor version. Same architecture, ACT edition.

It is called 1973 Foundation Pty Ltd. Australian Company Number 146 990 301. Registered 22 October 2010. Registered office as at today: Australian Labor Party, ACT Branch, Level 1, 222 City Walk, Canberra. The Labor Party's own address.

Its board reads like a who's-who of ACT Labor. Current directors include Bob McMullan (former federal Trade Minister and Special Minister of State) and Simon Corbell (former ACT Attorney-General and Deputy Chief Minister). Past directors have included two former ACT Chief Ministers, Rosemary Follett and Jon Stanhope, plus former federal MP Annette Ellis. ASIC has the complete history.

Now the money, from the AEC's records. Since 2010-11, 1973 Foundation has received $25.4 million and paid out $7 million to the ALP ACT Branch. In one year, 2023-24, it received a single line of $7,195,245 recorded as "Investment Sale Proceeds" from Queens Rd Holdings Pty Ltd as trustee for Five Dock Family Trust. It also receives regular rental income from a related entity, BMA Five Dock Pty Ltd. In the following year, the 2024-25 federal election year, the Foundation paid $1,728,822 to the ALP ACT Branch. The gap between inflows and outflows, about $18.4 million sits as an accumulated investment portfolio, mainly with JB Were.

Fair reading. Associated entities on both sides of politics smooth income to their party over election cycles. Nobody has alleged any impropriety against 1973 Foundation, its directors, or any donor to it. Former public officeholders serving as company directors is common.

Everything on the record is filed, disclosed and lawful.

The point is symmetry. When the country talks about associated-entity dark money the conversation is almost always about Cormack and the Liberals. Labor has the same architecture. It is registered at the Labor Party's own address. Former Labor officeholders sit on the board. And a single trust put $7.2 million into it in the year before the last federal election.

Same standard, every party.

Look at the Prime Minister squirm and refuse to answer questions about the dinner he attended allegedly in return for a $1 million donation to the labor party.

The dinner was hosted at a mansion in Point Piper, one of the most expensive suburbs in Australia. Disgraced former Victorian Premier Dan Andrews was also in attendance.

The organiser, Felix Lee has been subject to scrutiny by Australia's banking regulator. His parent's were chased by the ATO for an alleged $273 million in unpaid tax. The Point Piper mansion the Prime Minister attended for the fundraiser is subject to a security claim by the tax office.

Lee's father was a central figure in the 2022 inquiry into the basket case casino, having put $2.2 billion through Sydney’s Star casino including the use of prohibited Chinese debit cards.

There are allegations of billions flowing from China into Australia - this is the company the Prime Minister keeps.

The Prime Minister hits Australians with some of the highest taxes in the world, then dines with the family of a man the tax office reportedly chased for a quarter of a billion in unpaid tax.

If Labor didn't have double standards, they wouldn't have any.

Anthony Albanese is desperately trying to wave away questions about his attendance at a Sydney fundraising dinner hosted by Felix Lee - the son of Chinese billionaire Phillip Dong Fang Lee, who is under active Australian Taxation Office investigation for allegedly funneling large sums of money from China into Australian bank accounts through deception.

The Prime Minister turned up at the Point Piper harbourside mansion last week. Instead of arriving with tax agents ready to repossess the place, Albanese sat down for dinner.

The only people who should have been at that table were ATO officers with warrants. Instead, the Labor leader treated it like just another private function.

On ABC’s Insiders on Sunday, Albanese offered the usual brush-off:

“I attend lots of functions, I don’t talk about private dinners, I’m not aware of those issues, he wasn’t there. We declare all of our donations in accordance with the rules, we’re transparent about it.”

Transparent?

The father is being investigated by the ATO over allegedly deceiving officials about his business and financial interests in China while moving serious money into Australian accounts.

The son hosts a fundraising dinner for Labor at the family mansion.

The Prime Minister shows up.

And we’re told it’s just another night on the circuit.

Also around the table: Commonwealth Bank boss Matt Comyn, former Future Fund chairman David Murray, ex ASIC chairman James Shipton and former HSBC chief executive Antony Shaw.

What was discussed? What deals were done? What influence did the tax cheat’s family buy with that dinner?

Albanese won’t say.

He just keeps repeating that he attends lots of dinners and doesn’t talk about them.

This isn’t transparency.

It’s a calculated attempt to bury the optics of the Prime Minister dining with the family of a man the ATO is investigating for moving Chinese money into Australia under false pretences - while Labor continues to take the donations and pretend nothing is wrong.
