Hi, @MedTwitter. Wanted to introduce myself. I’m new but have enjoyed reading all your posts, from the hilarious to the educational to the insightful. I’m a lawyer turned PA who switched from Family Med to EM in March 2020 while pregnant with twins. Just now coming up for air.
I’m saying your comment was a ridiculous generalization that is untrue and derogatory to PAs and NPs. Argue semantics all you want, but anyone reading your tweet can see what you meant. There is no need to insult other clinicians. We are teammates. Period. #PATwitter#MedTwitter
@ElizStrickDes @DrGRuralMD Are you saying that I’m being intellectually dishonest? Furthermore, my tweet was far from an “attack” on an entire group of folks 👊🏾👍🏾
@AmputationSuck @DrGRuralMD Gross. No need to take it in that direction. PAs do not seek to diminish the role of physicians, particularly PCPs, who are the unsung heroes and real MVPs of patient care. This is NOT what @DrGRuralMD meant, but thanks for the unprovoked attack on other hardworking clinicians.
@DrCNM@dr_rynn @Leedsmedic @EBMgoneWILD@DGlaucomflecken The ? was why scribes for docs. They allow docs to do more work/MDM which does NOT imply anything about nurses. Implies that documenting isn’t the real work. It’s a numbers game. Most docs cover their scribe cost. Seeing more pts = more $/faster dispos which > covers the scribe.
@DrCNM@dr_rynn @Leedsmedic @EBMgoneWILD@DGlaucomflecken Why are you so angry with me? I said nothing about nursing. Don’t assume you understand my positions on things because of a comment that addressed a different issue. Even docs with scribes still chart. The charting required is massive. I said it increases efficiency and it does.
@DrCNM@dr_rynn @Leedsmedic @EBMgoneWILD@DGlaucomflecken It’s not because of PPE. It’s done to maximize efficiency, in ED and OP settings. Charting is so cumbersome/time consuming no matter how fast you are at EMR. So much is required for billing. Scribes allow docs to do the real work/thinking, and not waste precious time documenting.
@BigEyesOnMeAndU@hcciam @tink_n_frog @Fitz_P @_ashawndabney Most hcps I know/follow have similar experience. We are collectively burned out and exhausted. Why would we lie about this? (Spoiler: not for big pharma 🙄) Ask yourselves why you’re dead set on pushing a narrative that rejects what scientists/clinicians have seen for 2+yrs 4/4
@BigEyesOnMeAndU@hcciam @tink_n_frog @Fitz_P @_ashawndabney …a weak argument are easily refuted with actual science. But while we’re being anecdotal, I’ve eval’d 100s if not 1000s of Covid pts, and I can count on a single hand the # of vaccinated pts who were sick enough to be admitted vs. the many unvaxxed who needed admission. 3/
@RyanMarino I have no pets, just four wild, small humans whose future I worry about more as the world gets crazier by the day. FWIW, we appreciate you standing your ground on evidence-based med and refusing to back down in the face of more than your share of unwarranted attacks. Stay strong.
@LilyCrue @JGPharmD @Thunderball155 @thepedipals And that’s not including constant lab results flowing in, managing those and notifying pts, phone calls, zillions of refills, prior auths, FMLA/disability paperwork, the list goes on. And then paid for only part time while working 45+ hrs/wk bc full time clinic is unconscionable.
@CherieMountney@YoungShull This is unquestionably the work of Gen Z. In fact if there’s anything that screams Gen Z more than this email, I cannot imagine it.
@RonDell28735421@tarabibarati@elizavetaka @LilacsOnTheBay @ChuckWurster Because it’s not about the truth; it’s about spinning data to support a political agenda. And correlation isn’t causation. RSV spike happened after vax rollout, but that’s also when kids went back to school and folks relaxed on masking. But I’m sure it’s the evil vaccines 🙄
@RonDell28735421@tarabibarati@elizavetaka @LilacsOnTheBay @ChuckWurster This article is laughable. Super easy to manipulate stats to make it sound like a huge increase when if you look at the numbers we’re talking about 0.4% vs. 0.1% of kids in each group. Nowhere does it analyze whether these numbers are statistically or clinically significant.
