Quick WIP update! Progress has been really slow, but I'm still chipping away my historical mystery/adventure, which is long enough now that I'm working on splitting it into 2 books. Here's a photo I took last summer of one of the locations from the story, Corfe Castle. #amwriting
@scyian Thank you so much, that's really kind. I'm not doing Mastodon at the moment because I already feel like I struggle to keep up with the social media I've got, but if I change my mind I'll get in touch. Wishing you all the best with your beautiful writing and artwork :)
There was a lot about Twitter I really enjoyed, so I've been reluctant to delete X altogether. But having read about some of Elon Musk's latest comments, & the way this platform has been used to stir up hate, I'm logging out now, probably for good. 1/2

You can find me on Threads, where I still occasionally pop in to talk about books, history and writing. I'm elle_scribbles on there too:

A woman whose courage was astounding.
The perils of her landing and the subsequent bombardment she endured from the Parliamentarian navy - not to mention the rescue of her little dog left alone under cannon fire! - were fabulous inspiration for a scene in one of my books!
I am stunned to find one of my Lord's Legacy books in such exclusive and brilliant company!
Thank you so much @alistair_tosh for making The Traitor's Apprentice your book of the year!
I have a short story in the excellent 'Masterworks' anthology from the Historical Writers' Forum @histwriters.
You can read how I came to write it, how it relates to my Lord's Legacy books + a sneak peek! https://t.co/VoVSMxP5H1

I am stunned my story made the longlist of the HWA Dorothy Dunnett Short Story Competition.
Thank you.
It is Dorothy Dunnett's Centenary and entering this was my way to mark that—a tribute to one of the finest writers ever and my great inspiration.
Congrats and good luck to all!

Just a few of the lovely library books I read and enjoyed recently. For more bookish content (and photos of castles and stuff) I'm over on Instagram and Threads as @elle_scribbles 😁
So much to love in this picture!
But for me, it demonstrates how little light was given by a single candle and how much our ancestors had to live in the dark.
The South-West Gatehouse at Corfe Castle. The western tower was undermined by sappers when the Parliamentarians slighted the castle in 1646, causing it to slide a few metres down the hillside.
I think it still looks pretty impressive, considering.
