The Detroit Lakes girls soccer team pulls off a 1-0 upset over Little Falls in the first round of the Section 8-2A tournament.

For context: The Flyers shutout the Lakers 7-0 to open the season. Just a crazy amount of improvement from this team. Next game is Saturday.

Detroit Lakes is sending athletes to state track for the first time since 2019. Personal records, high expectations and a story about a young coach turned athlete highlighted day that marks a new era for the Lakers in the MSHSL's three-class system.

ICYMI: The Lakers staved off ending their season for a fourth time and will play for the consolation title today at 4 p.m. against Austin. For Elle Bettcher, it's about taking the court with her older sister one last time.

The @girls_dl has had its back against the wall four times and has come out on top every time. Thursday's 55-49 win bought a ticket to the consolation championship tomorrow. For sophomore Elle Bettcher, it bought her one more game with her sister.
