Our physio, occupational therapists & dietician have been representing the AHP faculty at the Royal Norfolk Show today. Promoting our professions to all ages. The STEMM village is an amazing hub for education, winning second place in one of the categories.
This morning was spent with Five Mobility for specialist bariatric manual handling training. We explored effective manual handling techniques and the most appropriate equipment to use to support our high BMI patients and prevent MSK work related injuries.
Some excellent work from our senior occupational therapists recently who arranged training on Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) & shared reflections on practice with Becca demonstrating a brilliant orientation calendar she made for a patient whose first language was Turkish
The occupational therapists and Therapy Assistants on our stroke unit have started running Christmas craft groups.
This helps work on patients’ fine motor skills, attention and helps increase socialisation following a stroke 🧑🎄
Thank you to @UEA_Health for inviting our Student Co-Ordinators to the Health & Social Care Employability Festival this week!
Great to share the diversity, research & development opportunities in our department & hear positive feedback from students who’ve had placements with us
Thank you so much for the wonderful in-service training provided today to our stroke team by @kath1872 @UEA_Health on NeuroVirt, highlighting the valuable use of VR technology in stroke rehabilitation
Our Senior (band 6) occupational therapists held a journal club for their monthly peer meeting in July to maintain evidence based practice & support their CPD.
All our staff are encouraged to attend regular peer support meetings for this purpose & also for their wellbeing 💚
Such a privilege to see our Senior Rotational OT, Ellie, grow into her first band 6 OT role in our team and be her supervisor! I’m sad that she rotates on Monday but so excited to see what she does next ⭐️
(Never ever expect a gift so its so thoughtful that she got these for me!)
Brilliant end of rotation presentation today from Senior OT, Ellie, discussing personality disorders.
Interesting to understand why we may see more patients presenting to our orthopaedic service who have BPD and a great discussion around challenging the stigma among clinicians👏
Tom is 99 and is walking 100 lengths of his back garden before his 100th birthday to raise funds to support NHS staff. He has already reached £120,000 ... please make a donation if you can https://t.co/9dMIOiBll8 #COVID19#ThankYouNHS ❤️❤️❤️
He inspired generations to look beyond our own blue planet and expand our understanding of the universe. His personality and genius will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with his family.
