Unfortunately, nobody representing Chelsea on the pitch, in the technical area, or in the boardroom, seems to understand the significance of this fixture.

Xabi Alonso on disciplinary issues:
“We need to work and improve on that. We spoke yesterday about those things. One first yellow can be decisive. It's a process of the maturity of the team.”

Xabi Alonso on Cole Palmer’s red card:
"I have to check. It was hard for everyone to deal with 1-0 when the game was so close. It affected a bit our emotional control."

Xabi Alonso on it being a learning moment for Cole Palmer:
“Absolutely. I've not seen it but I've been told it's right. I need to check the action before speaking with Cole but it's one to learn from for sure.“
[via @BobbyVincentFL]
Xabi Alonso on missing Joao Pedro:
"It would be so easy to talk about the players we're missing but with the squad that we have, we believe we can do better with the team that we have. We have to be self-critical and take responsibility."

For Cole specifically becuase he's been on a tightrope of red cards for about five months, but it also goes to everyone. Petulance in a team trying to build a title winning culture again is a no go.
I'd say overall for Xabi this season it's been 75/25 for positive to negative in terms of results/culture change/vision/turnover/implementation.
Massive work ahead in the coming weeks, months, years to become consistent but today I think he knows absolutely cannot happen again.
