Hundreds of members of Rotary Club of Kigali Golf gathered on Friday evening at Landmark One House for the 2026–2027 presidential installation ceremony and a fundraising gala dinner.

During the event, the international non-profit organization announced a campaign to raise $250,000 to purchase a medical machine that will be donated to CHUK before the end of the year.

The equipment is expected to improve treatment access for patients suffering from prostate cancer and kidney stones.

Newly elected President Julie Umutoni said the initiative was introduced at a time when cases of prostate cancer and kidney stones continue to rise, while access to specialized treatment remains limited.

She noted that the machine will help provide faster and more affordable treatment, with services expected to be covered under Rwanda’s community-based health insurance scheme, Mutuelle de Santé.

Beyond healthcare, Rotary Club of Kigali Golf highlighted its ongoing community support initiatives, including providing clean water to more than 8,000 residents in Gashora Sector, Bugesera District, as part of efforts to support sustainable development.

Students from @MountKigaliUni won an international award at the International Students’ Film Festival in Nigeria for their film Forgotten Frame, which tells the story of a disabled child rejected by a parent who later becomes famous.

More than 40 Mount Kigali students worked on the project under the guidance of their teacher, Apollo Dusabimana O’Keefe, Secretary-General of the Rwanda Film Association. Writer Migambi Elite Alexis said the award inspired greater effort.

Judges were moved to tears. The 10 month project, costing around 6–8.5 million Rwandan Francs, also led to a partnership with Nigerian actors to develop Rwanda’s film industry. #RoyalFMAt10
