#EllyTips
Fonts copied from online, such as ππ½πΎπ may seem fancy, but they are not friendly to people using screen readers or with dyslexia, so always use plaintext!
In the video (sound on), note how Narrator cannot detect the copied fonts.

#EllyTips: Simple language π£οΈ
When making content for a general audience, try to keep your language simple (e.g. basic words instead of fancy complex phrases) so that it can easily be understood by everyone, regardless of cognitive ability! πΊοΈ

#EllyTips: Text or Images?
Whenever possible on slideshows / documents / websites, use text instead of images e.g. to illustrate a schedule.
This allows people using screen readers to understand the content easily without relying on captions!
#EllyForA11y#A11y#Accessibility
#EllyTips - Descriptive Links π
When adding links to a document or website, use descriptive text that clearly describes the link's address, rather than using "Click here" or "More info".
This way, people using screen readers can navigate more easily!

#EllyTips: Accessibility for Seizures
Avoid making content (e.g. GIFs) with flickers, flashes, or blinks that may trigger photosensitive epilepsy. π¨
If they must be included, record them as videos that users can pause, and add a seizure warning before that!

Have you written an Audio Description before?
When writing them, think about 3 key factors, you should include:
1. Who?
2. What?
3. When / Where?

#EllyTips: Closed Captions (CC)
Here are some pointers for CC:
1. They aren't just dialogue subtitles, they include background noises, lyrics and audio cues too!
2. They should appear long enough to read easily.
3. They shouldn't block any visual elements.
