Am a God fearing person, Civic Educator and a Peace Keeper, Founder One Million Trees 4 Kilifi. A big lover of Mother Nature, Graduate and a community giver.
Each and every time we try to make Kilifi Green. It’s not that trees cannot grow in Kilifi, but the bad habits of cutting down trees 🌲 without replacement is killing our county. With serious investment in tree planting we shall be able to solve 90% of our problems.
Today, we’re returning to the courts to discuss the case regarding Chief Neem Corner in Watamu, where the government has cleared a public park to build affordable housing. We are advocating for a change in the location! #SaveChiefNeemsCorner
You can relocate a building.
You can redesign a project.
But you cannot relocate 40–60-year-old trees.
Once they’re gone, the discussion ends.
Now is the moment.

When did public land start being treated as empty land?
Chief Neem Corner isn’t idle
it’s working every day to cool, clean, and protect this town.
Do we value that work?
#PublicLand#SaveChiefNeemCorner
Watamu is getting hotter.
Trees cool cities. Concrete heats them.
So why are we replacing 500 mature neem trees with buildings
in a climate crisis?
Who benefits in the long run?
#ClimateConversation#SaveChiefNeemCorner
Many of us support affordable housing. But why must it be built on the last remaining public green space?
Isn’t good planning about choices, not shortcuts?
Thoughts? 👇🏽

If Watamu loses its only public green garden, where do people go next? Once 500 mature neem trees are cut, what replaces that shade concrete?
Let’s talk.
@Rajileema#SaveChiefNeemCorner#Watamu
We call on leaders @GideonMungaroM to protect Chief Neem Corner, respect environmental rights, and choose better locations for housing.
Affordable homes can be built.
A mature neem garden cannot be rebuilt.

KILIFI has only a few public parks Buntwani is dry, Mazingira is limited.
Chief Neem Corner is where people rest, walk & breathe.
Public land must serve the public not disappear.

Across the world, cities that protected parks are now healthier, cooler & more valuable.
Cities that destroyed them are spending millions trying to rebuild green spaces.
Trees are an investment, not an obstacle.
#NatureBasedSolutions#savechiefneemscorner
These trees cool our town, clean the air, reduce flooding, support birds & absorb carbon for free, every day. Concrete can’t do that.
Once they’re gone, the damage is permanent.
#GreenSpacesMatter#ClimateJustice#safechiefneemscorner@UN
You can’t “replace” mature trees.
Neem trees take MORE THAN 15 years to provide real shade and cooling decades to fully mature.
Cutting them means losing 30+ years of climate protection instantly.
#TreesBeforeConcrete#protectchiefneemscorner
Yes, affordable housing matters.
But placing it on Watamu’s last green public space is the wrong choice when plenty of undeveloped land exists in Kilifi County.
Development must be smart.
#SmartDevelopment#Watamu@UNEP@GideonMungaroM
Watamu is about to lose its only public garden. 🌳
Chief Neem Corner (Mkilifi) home to 500+ mature neem trees is set to be cleared for housing.
This is not development. This is destruction.
