"Anyone who commits domestic violence is not fit to serve in Congress. The House Ethics Committee should thoroughly investigate any credible allegations, and any member found to have committed domestic violence should resign from Congress immediately," Husted wrote on X.

Miller has been accused by his ex-wife of physically abusing her, pouring scalding water on her, holding a gun to her head, and breaking their 2-year-old daughter's collarbone. As if that weren't monstrous enough, he also allegedly held his daughter's beloved stuffed rabbit hostage as a way to manipulate her mother. The man is clearly a textbook sociopath.

Republicans have dragged their feet in condemning Miller because theirs is an utterly immoral party concerned only with holding onto power so that they can shovel more wealth to the oligarchs and corporations. Trump, an alleged abuser and adjudicated rapist, has expressed sympathy for Miller.

But the tide is finally turning with Husted's tweet. It comes in the wake of a disastrous interview that Miller gave to CNN, during which he sounded like the most guilty man in the world. He also released a jaw-dropping video in which he asserted that he couldn't have possibly abused his ex-wife like she claims, because a few days after one of the incidents, she cooked dinner for him. Of course, a physically abused woman being intimidated into cooking for her violent husband is an all-too-familiar trope.

"I know both Max Miller and Emily Moreno, as well as their families. I am deeply saddened that their personal lives have become such a public matter, especially as it relates to their daughter, Ruthie," Husted continued.

"One thing they both seem to agree on is that Ruthie’s best interests should come first. Those interests will not be served by litigating these matters in public, but by addressing them privately," he wrote.

"Given everything they are facing, I do not see how a campaign for Congress benefits any of them. I believe Max would be making the right decision to step aside as a candidate and resign from Congress to focus on what is in the best interest of his daughter. Years from now, I believe he will look back and know it was the right choice for her."

"I hope this decision leads to a more constructive conversation about Ruthie’s future and gives Max and Emily the opportunity, as private citizens, to do what is best for their daughter. My prayers are with them and their family," Husted concluded.
