Ronaldo always choosing the hard path to prove himself has done so much damage to my mental health. I should be counting 2,000 goals, 700 assists, 500 free kicks, 10 UCLs, and 6 World Cups if he had chosen the easy route like Messi. He chose Portugal over Brazil. He left a back-to-back UCL Manchester United team to join a finished Madrid. He left a 3-peat Madrid to join a struggling Juventus. He left an opportunity to play for a star-studded Man City to play for a hopeless Ten Hag team in his old age, where he only needed service given his age, and KDB was there — basically the only thing Haaland adds to that team. He chose the Saudi League over the MLS and now he has to face the same faces he saw in Europe under another umbrella. He chose Al Nassr over Al Hilal that gets a penalty in every match. At the end, history remembers the victors and the accolades, not the pathway. When we are all gone tomorrow and his name gets buried in the dust, people will only remember him for what he won on paper, not how he won them. *Sharper, more readable version:* Ronaldo's obsession with taking the hardest path to prove himself has ruined my mental health.
