Here are two sales skills I’ve learned that instantly helped me book more cleaning jobs:
1. Conviction
You don’t need the perfect pitch.
What matters is how strongly you believe in your service.
If you genuinely believe:
→ “We will do a great job”
“Hey, just checking if you’re still looking to get this cleaned?”
That alone can win you jobs.
So, you don’t need to be the best salesperson.
You just need:
✔️ Conviction in your service
✔️ Consistency in follow-ups
but because they consistently turn capital into bigger outcomes.
If you can take $1 and turn it into $2 consistently,
you’ll never run out of opportunities.
That’s a skill I'm trying to learn.
Every aspiring entrepreneur should learn this.
I’ve noticed something interesting…
Entrepreneurs like Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos don’t just “make money.”
They’ve mastered the ability to take money from others and multiply it.
Investors trust them not because they’re lucky…
#CleaningbizTip When I was re-starting my cleaning business, I had to get creative at the start because I didn't have money for ads.
One way I started getting move-out cleaning jobs was by direct messaging people who had moving out sale listings on Facebook marketplace.
I simply messaged them, told them about my service and that if they needed end of lease clean, since they are moving out, I will appreciate the opportunity to do the clean for them.
This helped me get my first few bookings.

If you want to start a cleaning business, here are 3 things you should never do at the start.
I learned this the hard way.
When I started my cleaning business in 2023, I made these mistakes myself.
1. Don’t hire too early
I started solo for about 4 months. Then I tried to grow quickly… hired staff, even got two cars on finance.
Big mistake.
When your business doesn’t have consistent cash flow yet, taking on staff and extra expenses puts too much pressure on you.
So if you can, stay solo as long as possible and build your income first.
2. Don’t take on too many overheads
Keep your expenses low at the start.
If you can run the business lean, do it.
The less pressure you have financially, the easier it is to survive and grow.
3. Don’t jump into partnerships too early
This one is important.
When you enter a partnership, the focus usually shifts to growth.
But if the business isn’t even making consistent profit yet, now you’ve added more pressure.
And if you’re fully dependent on that business with no backup income, it becomes very difficult when things slow down.
If you do want to partner early, make sure you have another source of income so you’re not relying on the business to survive.
Start simple.
Keep control.
Build steady first… then scale.
Want to start your own cleaning business? this one is for you.
Starting a cleaning business can be confusing, especially if you don’t know where to start. But if you’re a beginner and you just want to make your first $5K–$10K/month, and you don’t have a marketing budget, this is what I’d recommend.
I wouldn’t start with platforms that make you pay big upfront fees just to get jobs.
I’d start with Airtasker.
And no, this isn’t a paid partnership. This is just me speaking from experience.
I had to restart my cleaning business twice after failed partnerships. Both times, I had no money to put into marketing. I had to start from scratch, and Airtasker is what I used.
The way it works is simple:
You bid for jobs, you get booked through the platform, the customer pays upfront, and Airtasker takes their fee.
Yeah, the fee is around 20% when you’re starting.
But here’s the thing people don’t realise…
That first job is just the entry point.
If you do a good job, that customer will come back. And when they come back, it’s direct. No platform fees. That’s how you start building your own client base.
So instead of waiting until you have money for ads, just start.
Get jobs. Do the work. Build relationships. Start making money.
Then later, you can move into things like Google Ads, your own website, referrals, all of that.
But at the start, if you’re in Australia and you just want to get going with a cleaning business, start with Airtasker.
At https://t.co/RfVjC9QX48, we are doing something that will boost the revenue of all home service businesses in Australia.
Before, when a home service business owner such as a lawn mower, pest control specialist, or removalist, is asked by a customer for extra services like Handyman work or cleaning service, most often these service business owners will say they don't offer those services.
That's money being left on the table.
A small service business needs all cash flow they can get. If they already have customers asking for more, there should be a way for them to capitalise on that while still growing their main business without losing focus.
This is where ServiceBizOS comes in.
It allows this service business owner to charge that client for the extra service and book trusted local subcontractor via the ServiceBizOS system. Once the subcontractor is completed, the business owner collects final payment from client and pays the subcontractor.
ServiceBizOS makes this process soooo easy and stress free.
Reach out to us for a free demo and walk through of the system.
Make more money easily for your business. Available across Australia.
Just watched a video of someone on insta, they asked “What if it worked out? What if that dream you are chasing worked out?”
This somehow made me satisfied in an odd way and gave me the encouragement to keep going.
