The Ambassadors of Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain and Sweden, together with the Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation to Bangladesh, were received yesterday by President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir at Bangabhaban.

This was a warm meeting, which reflected the shared interest of the EU and Bangladesh to deepen ties and build a stronger, more strategic partnership.

214 Bangladeshi Erasmus Mundus scholars joined Erasmus alumni, the European Union Delegation, EU member states Ambassadors/representatives and participating countries 🇦🇹 🇧🇪 🇧🇬 🇭🇷 🇨🇾 🇨🇿 🇩🇰 🇪🇪 🇫🇮 🇫🇷 🇩🇪 🇬🇷 🇭🇺 🇮🇪 🇮🇹 🇱🇻 🇱🇺 🇲🇹 🇳🇱 🇵🇱 🇵🇹 🇷🇴 🇸🇰 🇸🇮 🇪🇸 🇸🇪 🇳🇴 🇱🇹 🇷🇸 🇹🇷 🇬🇧 for a send-off prior to their departure for studies in Europe.

The European Union is investing in young Bangladeshis, helping them begin an ‘Odyssey’ of learning, discovery and cultural exchange. Creating lasting connections between people and societies. Helping prepare the next generation of Bangladeshi leaders and innovators.

We congratulate the awardees on their hard work, determination and success and wish them every success in this exciting new chapter of their lives. And we look forward to these inspiring youngsters acting as Ambassadors of Bangladesh in Europe and of Europe in Bangladesh!

Team Europe on the road! This week, the Ambassadors of the Netherlands, Spain and the European Union, accompanied by EuroCham President Nuria Lopez, visited Narayanganj to see innovation, investment and industrial upgrading for themselves.

From the massive KSBL shipyards, to DEW the oldest dockyard in Bangladesh, to the highly innovative, game-changing Recover™ facility, three companies demonstrating the potential for economic diversification, high value added production and accelerated growth in Bangladesh.

What impressed:

· The strength of European technology and expertise, helping scale up circular approaches and generate jobs and prosperity.
· European investment teaming up with Bangladeshi entrepreneurial spirit to create winning partnerships.
· The enormous potential of economic and export diversification beyond textiles and garments.

And there was even time for an appreciation of local cultural heritage!

The Heads of Mission of Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden and the EU met PM Tarique Rahman earlier today, passing a message of readiness to intensify relations with the new Government. The EU expressed support for priority reforms, economic modernisation and managed migration, stressing the importance of a level playing field to promote investment. Shared values underpin the EU’s partnerships around the world. We look forward to the new EU-Bangladesh Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, to be initialled during the visit of FM Rahman to Brussels on 20 April, enhancing cooperation across the board.
