Hearing @lizzo play some of the Library's priceless antique instruments on Monday was such a gift, and we were honored and happy to help her share that gift with her concert audience Tuesday night. Here is some more behind-the-scenes footage of her Library tour. #LizzoAtLOC
@mgambogi I had covid in July and have become *more cautious*. I’m now out of sick days and have friends who have caught it at least twice this year. I’m not sure how some are ok with workers/kids being out sick for 1-2 weeks multiple times a year… + long covid risk with each infection.
@worr If you want to go in depth about that risk — I’ve been reading “This is how they tell me the world will end” by Nicole Perloth.
I agree, the next world war will likely be invisible attacks on infra
@alecain I will agree that we need more direct action and legislation; but consumer choice I feel is hopeless unless there are options available. Right now I pay a premium at eco-friendly stores to show I want these, but thats not an option for less $$ or less progressive regions.
@alecain My issue with corporations is their desire to continue non-eco-friendly options (plastic packaging, single use), that makes it very difficult as a consumer to find an eco-friendly solution at a typical store. We can’t have widespread consumer change until options exist.
@mgambogi True, “cure” implies burnout is active. But I think going back to the office will reduce burnout for some. And adding a forcing factor to leave work might give someone a break they otherwise didn’t have/feel they could take at home
I’ve had no trouble reading (that I’m aware of) my whole life, but I really enjoy reading with OpenDyslexic.
It feels so much faster, smoother, and precise… It’s an ugly font, but effective.
I joined a discord community for crocheting, thinking it would be fun to connect with other yarn fanatics. In the introduction thread, almost everyone is a teenager. I feel really old reading these chat conversations… #DiscordElder
Its not like they could bully me out of my email address either. Then they would get the personal and recruiting nag mails I get and all the baggage of having an email address for over a decade.
The person who has my same name and keeps using my email on forms (I was sent pics of her kids from a friend of hers, and figured this out), decided to subscribe to so many magazines in the last few days.... And housekeeping/cleaning newsletters.
This email is a firstnamelastname to a generic email provider. What can I even do to fix this? Contacting this person every time is not feasible. I can update my email to some weird number firstnamelastname90210 to make it more unique but thats a lot of work too....
