Would I get arrested for posting this in the UK?
Orwell wrote 1984 as a warning.
Britain read it as an instruction manual.
62,000+ arrests for "communications offences" in five years (~34 a day).
So I made a music video about it.
🇺🇸 Ocean City got the full Tesla treatment last night
A huge crowd of Tesla owners lined up their cars and synced them into one giant light show, lighting up the night in perfect rhythm.
Say what you want about @Tesla … this goes hard.

@Kanthan2030 Lets have some standards. As long as we in the US and collective west let worse happen in Gaza and the West Bank (even be complicit), we Americans have no moral leg to stand on (especially when it is arguable that these were Mossad armed insurrectionists in the body bags).
Just a thought…maybe ppl in Cuba aren’t overthrowing their govt because they blame the Americans for blockading and sanctioning them instead. And now threatening invasions too.
If you’ve excoriated China for not taking invasion off the table for Taiwan while giving America a pass for putting Cuba in the dark and planning an invasion, you are a hypocrite who doesn’t really have principles beyond supporting Pax Americana.
The ‘progressive’ Elizabeth Warren signed this bizarre statement.
“The People’s Republic of China presents a greater threat to American security and prosperity than ever before. According to public reporting, Chinese entities are providing the Iranian regime and its terrorist proxies with satellite imagery, technology and battlefield intelligence to target and kill American service members... The Chinese military continues its pressure campaign against our vital democratic partner Taiwan as President Trump has retreated from longstanding security commitments... Beijing also serves as the lifeline for Putin’s brutal war machine in Ukraine, providing the technology and oil revenue Moscow needs to manufacture the precision missiles and drones that terrorize Ukraine’s cities...
“President Trump must end China’s access to the advanced chips and manufacturing equipment it needs to build dangerous AI systems. He must stand with Taiwan and not let China veto American support for Taiwan’s defense. He must press President Xi to stop supporting Putin’s war in Ukraine. Finally, he must confront President Xi about the resources Beijing has given Iran that have led to the killing of American service members.”
Dear lord. If that’s progressive, I dread to think what ‘reactionary’ looks like.
Lots of whining by experts about US-China summit, but would they really prefer the alternative -- namely continuously rising tensions, including in the national security domain? I think not.
Chinese military news (Junshi Baodao) devoted nearly 20 min to coverage of the summit and that is a clear message to China's national security apparatus that Beijing elites, even in the PLA, must keep a lid on Chinese nationalism and continue to work pragmatically with the Americans. Yes -- that's a good thing.
Here are some of my other quick takeaways: 1) I see that Cai Qi is playing a conspicuous role as no. 2 with major implications for China's future, of course. I note that he is from Fujian and that makes sense in terms of Xi's overriding priority on Taiwan. Note in the first photo that he is seated parallel to Vance. 2) Trump and his team deserve some credit for referencing the famous Flying Tigers (American volunteers who fought heroically and died to defend China) and also taking Xi's wife,Peng to the excellent Asian art museum at the Smithsonian. These were both classy moves that played very well in Chinese coverage -- evidence of genuine respect for both China's history and also its culture. 3) Am glad to see @elonmusk at Trump's elbow during the state dinner. As I've said previously, he is one of the few people proximate to Trump who knows alot about China. We may not like many of Musk's ideas, but the one that America should try to get along with Beijing is very sound indeed.
Building a serious, substantive relationship that works between these two superpowers will be exceedingly difficult. Pageantry, personal relationships, and yes pandas are certainly part of the mix.
And despite all of its myriad errors in foreign policy and defense -- including that utterly foolish, destructive, unconstitutional war in the Middle East -- the current admin deserves some credit for keeping the ultra-important US-China relations on a relatively decent trajectory. The fact that two more meetings will take place in 2026 is also a major win for US-China relations.
On October 10, 2001, at Mexico City's Palacio Legislativo de San Lázaro, sugar workers protesting unpaid claims detained two men photographing them suspiciously.
Salvador Gersson Smeck, 34, Mexican (ex-Israeli military, private security), carried a permitted 9mm Glock with ammo. Saer Ben-Zvi, 27, Israeli (claimed special forces, illegal entry), had a briefcase with tubes, cables, lighter, and fake Pakistani passports. Initial reports cited grenades/C-4/detonators; later findings did not support bomb charges.
No attack or injuries occurred. PGR released Gersson Oct 12 (no prosecutable elements). Ben-Zvi released on bail Oct 14 for immigration violation, then to authorities. Motive unknown.
