Sometimes one book is all it takes.

In 1992, Mart Laar took power in Estonia as a 32 year old history teacher with zero economics training.
He admitted the only economics book he’d ever read was Milton Friedman’s “Free to Choose”, and he simply did what it said.

So he ran the most radical free market experiment in Europe and turned a collapsed Soviet republic into one of the richest countries in the East.

>ditched the ruble for a kroon pegged hard to the German mark
>imposed a pure 26% flat tax with no loopholes while Western economists called it reckless
>privatized state industry through open public tenders
>wiped out nearly every tariff and subsidy in under 2 years

8 years after the flat tax, Estonia averaged 5.2% growth and peaked at 11.7%, climbing past most of its neighbors.

The credentialed experts were wrong.
The history teacher with one book was right.

Frédéric Bastiat debunked this in 1850, explaining that the shopkeeper spends the money he would have used on new shoes, for example, so the shoemaker never sees it.

Cash moves either way, yet one path leaves the shopkeeper with BOTH A WINDOW AND THE SHOES he actually wanted while the other only restores what he already owned and leaves society WITHOUT THE SHOES.

Anyone still pushing this logic is openly arguing that destruction is a growth strategy.

Noruega... lo que el zurdo no te dice :
- es una monarquía parlamentaria.
- tienen un ejército fuerte, están integrados a la OTAN y tienen servicio militar obligatorio.
- cuentan con mucho petróleo y están terceros a nivel mundial en exportaciones.
- en el 2001 cayó la economía entonces recurrieron a privatizar parte la empresa petrolera estatal .
- es verdad que gobierna la centro-izquierda, pero a diferencia de Uruguay, en noruega viven noruegos...los que tienen tolerancia 0 con la corrupción o faltas éticas...es decir...Orsi ya estaría afuera...Es más, probablemente ya habrían adelantado elecciones.
