@Stupacabra It's neat, being a survival horror JRPG and all, but it's got a lot going against it. It's slow, difficult, and the limited inventory can be very rough. If you've ever played one of the Shadow Hearts games on the PS2, you can have a rough idea of what to expect. Same series.
@RowaseCarmihara@ShaunMusgrave I suspect this is ultimately what people mean when they say "grinding" is required. They might not be feeling engaged by the combat, or think the frequency of it is grinding their momentum to a halt. If it makes them not want to explore, or skip fights, that'll cause problems.
@LaurakBuzz The best way though, for me at least, is when your art direction strays away from realism. Cartoonier styles often put less emphasis on faces, and let hair and clothing do the heavy lifting. That's unfortunately not something the player has any control over though.
@LaurakBuzz I appreciate it when there's separate volume sliders for audio, so I can lower music and sound effects, but keep speech boosted. Clear voices are a reliable way of keeping track of who's who when characters are looking a little samey.
@byuu_san If you're styling it after the title screen, maybe this'll help: https://t.co/kDqT1jzyC3
I don't know what colour limitations you're working with, so I just made a few versions.
