Beautiful, democratically-controlled, permanently affordable housing for all isn’t a pipe dream: it’s social housing, and I’m fighting to bring it NY.
We can have housing that allows people to live with dignity and supports our climate goals. But we have to organize for it.
My wife is a child psychiatrist and the number of young kids she’s seeing lately who are being brought in explicitly for fear, nightmares and PTSD around ICE is the unseen and largely unspoken downstream horror of these ugly and poisonous tactics. We are terrozing a generation of kids because of how they look and where and who they were born to. What a shameful era
When half the residents in the richest state in the richest country in the world can't afford their basic needs, you know something has gone really wrong.
When we raise taxes on the wealthiest, we can fund the services that make NY livable for all. https://t.co/j5E6UJ1MaG
Human rights orgs are clear that Israeli settlements violate international law. I've seen countless videos of Palestinian families kicked out of their homes and violently attacked by settlers.
It should not be controversial to say that NY taxpayer dollars shouldn't fund this!
NY “charities” are funding Israeli settler organizations that ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their homes. Our state is complicit.
But the tide is turning. Last month, 26 supporters of the Not On Our Dime! Act won their primaries. We have an obligation to pass this bill.
No one should live in fear of ICE—not of being ripped from the community they’ve been part of for years, much less of being murdered in cold blood.
ICE must be abolished.
ICE murdered Lorenzo Salgado Araujo. A hardworking immigrant dad who reminds me of my own.
It’s no exaggeration to say that I fear for my father’s life under this regime. So many children of immigrants do. Lorenzo deserved to come home.
Fuck ICE.
The rapid adoption of AI and data centers is creating life-threatening conditions. As extreme weather increases, this will only become more true.
We MUST prioritize people over machines. The Gov should sign the data center omnibus bill to put common sense protections in place.
The CEO of the biggest electricity company in the US is warning that blackouts could hit next year, as AI and data centers drive up electricity demand and strain the grid.
Exelon's CEO Calvin Butler told the Financial Times that Americans could “absolutely” lose power as soon as 2027.
He says that last winter his company nearly limited service for 400,000 customers during extreme cold.

Every week, my office hears from business owners facing eviction or unfathomable rent increases at the hands of predatory landlords.
We must pass commercial rent stabilization so NYC continues to be a place where people can make their dreams happen. https://t.co/2TC0ZtVeM5
.Every day there’s another headline about the “socialist takeover.”
Since 2021, I’ve been busy passing bills, serving my district, and delivering resources to my community. And I’m just one of many democratic socialists doing this work.
We believe everyone deserves dignity, opportunity, and a government that works for working people.
We’ll keep choosing love over fear, unity over division, and action over headlines. ❤️
In the second half of today's Indy News Hour from 5-6 pm on WBAI-99.5 FM, we'll be speaking with Assemblymember @sarahana about the recent heat wave and her efforts to replace poorly performing private utility companies should be replaced by publicly-controlled entities.
My office is closed Friday, July 3 and Monday, July 6 for the holiday. If you need to reach us, you can always email [email protected] and we’ll get back to you.
Enjoy your holiday weekend! Stay cool. Don’t forget your electrolytes.
The public should indeed takeover the grid that’s owned, monopolized, and undermined by corporate shareholders. Blackrock is the top institutional holder of @ConEdison
Proud to speak at the Disability Pride kickoff yesterday!
NY has the resources and knowledge to create a truly accessible society for all people, regardless of ability. We must build the political will to deliver it.
Today, due to Trump’s cruel healthcare cuts and Governor Hochul’s refusal to fund social services, about half a million New Yorkers will lose their Essential Plan coverage.
See our statement below ⬇️
Democratic Socialists never stopped talking about climate bc we recognize that it's inextricable from class struggle.
Oligarchs are cooking our planet and working people are paying the price. We need @nypapower to build 15 GW of public renewables to get NY off fossil fuels ASAP!
If left-of-center politicians and ostensibly fact-based news organizations aren’t willing to accurately interpret our climate-changed reality, the right will be more than happy to do it for them
People around the country want leaders who fund healthcare, not genocide; who are more responsive to everyday Americans than to billionaires; who understand that wealth inequality and climate change are existential threats.
If that's not you, you're going to have a problem.
Today, nearly half a million NYers will lose healthcare. This loss was a direct result of federal tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.
NY could have chosen to tax our wealthiest and prevent this coverage loss. You better believe we'll be back next year to do so.
It takes an entire city to prepare for extreme weather, and that’s exactly what we’re doing. We’ve activated our Heat Emergency Plan ahead of tomorrow’s heat wave, bringing every agency together to protect New Yorkers.
Across the five boroughs, we’re opening hundreds of cooling centers, deploying outreach teams and COOL vans, extending pool hours, and preparing for flash flooding. As temperatures rise, I urge every New Yorker to make a plan, stay informed, check on your neighbors, and spend time in air-conditioned spaces whenever possible.
If we prepare early and look out for one another, we’ll get through this together.
