Google's HQ replaced 993 housing units including 298 #permanently#affordable under #MIH. The rezoning, lost 62% of the housing @CB2_Manhattan & @galeabrewer supported. To put this in perspective, NYC lost nearly 80% of the "projected" affordable housing in #SoHoNoHo rezoning.
Have you heard? District 17, in partnership with @LiteracyAcadNYC, is crafting a school for students with dyslexia!
So excited to witness this work coming alive!
@teachforever54 This may just become a project: Finding the Freedom Schools.
Identifying universities that help prepare teachers by ensuring a strong foundation of knowledge and quality practice for teaching kids to read. Food for thought.
@KJWinEducation Leadership matters in every step of the way.
Also, just because you don’t agree with people on everything doesn’t mean you don’t agree with them in this one thing!
As a steering committee member, I'm excited to work with partners to ensure our teacher preparation programs are well positioned to train tmrw's educators how to teach reading in ways that work. Now's the time! Pg. 64 of the Gov. plan & the Path Forward: https://t.co/B0f12VFKsh
@GovKathyHochul's #SOTS plan aims to ensure that our kids are taught to read using evidence-based practices. Funding professional development is vital. The Path Forward brings together NY's key institutions to ensure that our teachers are well-prepared to teach reading.
@teachforever54@Simply_Shamaria Kids WANT to do well in school. They KNOW that every grownup in their life wants them to do well. If they are not sitting down in their seat or class avoiding, they are telling the grownups in their life something. Usually they are telling them “I’m having trouble…help me!”
I love how Alabama St University's leadership responded to NCTQ (National Council Teacher Quality). Shows leadership and commitment to the mission of educating students. Rather than deflecting, @alabamastateu is embracing the feedback and focusing on growth. @hbcu@NCTQ
Mississippi wasn’t a miracle. It was a decade in the making of hard work from lots of people. You can have your opinions about SoR but the data tells the story. @kymyona_burk
Thank you Professor Copeland for inviting us at Literacy Academy Collective to speak to your class at @NYUteach We loved sharing our story to your amazing class of teachers.
Let’s be clear here: I don’t care who comes out to support a cause I have been working on for the last decade. As far as I am concerned, they are supporting a progressive cause.

So proud to be at the 10th anniversary of the Morristown Festival of Books.
My mom started this amazing event what seems like ages ago with an idea, some grit, and a bunch of volunteer friends!
#ILoveYouMom @MorristownBooks
Let’s be clear, I WANT Rs, conservatives & even the Moms of Liberty to want everyone to read. Why? I want their kids to be able to read the books they are working hard to ban. Science of Reading isn’t political…it’s science.
