Solo parenting for a few days and all my (4 … it’s a lot, I know) children decided to get sick one after another. Just needed to say that out loud. I’m feeling both tired & heroic. Plz hold the applause.
“Decade after decade, Indigenous children have been taken from their families, through residential schools, the Sixties Scoop, the child-welfare system. The public outrage comes in waves, but fades before there is real change.” https://t.co/Zn6LFblh9J via @torontostar
📣RETWEET📣 if you think the federal government needs to support First Nations in the wake of this tragedy, immediately implement the TRC Calls to Action, and stop fighting First Nations children in court. #cdnpoli
Lowering the flags across Canada to commemorate 215 innocent First Nation children is the least we can do.
These children were forcibly taken by the state.
They died at at a church run residential school and were buried without dignity.
Canada and the church are responsible.
Toddler arrives in the room..
Me: Look at my coffee. See my coffee? Be careful with your body around my coffee. No spilling, please.
Toddler: *stares at coffee* ok, mummy!
Toddler: *takes eyes off coffee & IMMEDIATELYYYY karate kicks coffee causing a small tsunami*
HOW. WHY.
It is Christmas Eve @CanadianPM Please drop all of your legal fights against First Nations children and families and fund all public services fairly. These children are sacred and they deserve more than lumps of coal from your government.
My dream for National Children's Day? That First Nations children don't have to spend their childhoods fighting with the Canadian Gov't to get equitable public services because Canada finally implements the Spirit Bear Plan and ends all the unfairness.
