Itsekiri, Igala, and Yoruba are all continuums of Yoruboid. Just like Spanish, Portuguese, and French are all continuums of Latin. Nobody calls French a dialect of Latin.

@nla_agba @Oni_Okun @OneSodiqAlabii You're confusing being part of a Language family and an actual dialects. Most dialects of Yoruba Ekiti, Ijebu, Ondo accept Oyo Yoruba as standard. Itsekiri doesn't. It's mutually unintelligible.

Nobody calls Portuguese a dialect of Spanish because some speakers can "understand" the other. Itsekiri and Yoruba are both Yoruboid.

@oakcha Isoko and Urhobo are dialects of each other. Itsekiri is a dialect of Yoruba. You cannot just declare a language, there are rules that define what a language is and what a dialect is.

Igbo, Ijaw are proper languages and cover far more than that one state.
