Can Piers try and get some straight answers from @RishiSunak then, on how he can say a plan that leaves 300,000 people without any income is “the right one”? We aren’t just a handful of people. #newstarterfurlough is MASSIVE, and we’re all terrified for our homes and families.
So many people are falling through the cracks.. people who started jobs too recently, the self-employed without a year’s worth of accounts, profits or salary...
If they can check for fraud before paying any money out, surely they can check amongst the new starters too?
@RishiSunak - STOP IGNORING #NEWSTARTERFURLOUGH.
This isn’t just a handful of individuals.
This is at least hundreds of thousands of people, now destitute.
HELP US.

Thank you so much to @leicesterliz for writing this excellent letter to @RishiSunak, asking for change to the policy to protect and support new starters. Thank you for joining our fight for the 80% income that we should be entitled to. #newstarterfurlough#wearethetaxpayers
Around 260,000 people change jobs in the UK EVERY MONTH.
New starters from March and April are currently unable to claim furlough pay.
So, about 520,000 people have been forced into financial hardship.
WE NEED A CHANGE TO THE JOB RETENTION SCHEME.

The trade union movement is finally getting behind the inspiring #newstarterfurlough campaign. Tens of thousands of workers who fall through the net of @RishiSunak flawed scheme deserve justice and they will prevail as a collective.

How many more times does Rishi Sunak and the government need telling about this gap in support for workers? We were promised “whatever it takes” & they would “get it done.” Well Chancellor, Get it done. For goodness sake treat these people properly. https://t.co/d5ZTbl2dum
