@NickTimiraos What does this mean now? She will probably challenge this in court and in the meantime still pursue her usual governor duties? Pretty sure she was a dove ..
@EconBerger Pretty sure it’s a project 2025 recommendation to mass combine BEA, Census bureau, BLS etc and install political appointees as heads of these agencies….
The totally groundless firing of Dr. Erika McEntarfer, my successor as Commissioner of Labor Statistics at BLS, sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the statistical mission of the Bureau. For a full statement opposing this move, read: https://t.co/cbQSs51iIW
@fcastofthemonth I don’t know much about the data collection - but for most of the imputations I believe they are substituting data to estimate price of a product from a “similar source” - maybe that means they are sourcing price data from different regions instead for CPI ex housings ?
In the words of Nelson Mandela: it always seems impossible until it’s done.
My friends, it is done. And you are the ones who did it.
I am honored to be your Democratic nominee for the Mayor of New York City.
@NickTimiraos It’ll be tough - they’ll all make their forecasts more stagflation like so find it hard not to see a couple of them not reduce their rate cut expectations this year. doesn’t really matter given high policy uncertainty and Powell will discount reading into dot plot too much
@NickTimiraos@MayankSeksaria Great analysis @NickTimiraos - always preferred NY Fed given larger sample size - always had the feeling committee preferred this too (at least in combination with market based measures)
