Session 6 of the @FIL_IDF's First Regional Dairy Conference focused on ‘Women and Dairying’. The session was chaired by Ms Lida Jacob, Former Dairy Development Commissioner, Kerala and Ms. Caroline Emond (@EmondCa), Former Director General, IDF. The esteemed speakers & panellists include:

The chair of the session Ms. Jacob shared that 80% of the work in dairy farming is done by women! It's time to bring them to the forefront by focusing on professionalism, sustainability, and tackling climate change. Cooperatives play a crucial role in this transformation. For empowering women, there is need to nurture entrepreneurship among young, educated women in dairying.
Ms. Emond, Ex-Director General of IDF touched upon incredible stories of women driving concrete actions in dairy farming. She mentioned that from scaling-up initiatives to achieving SDG 5 goals, dairying proves to be a powerful medium for positive change. She also advocated for inclusive policies which are crucial in empowering women through leadership and innovation.

-Role of dairy cooperatives in diversifying women's livelihoods and promoting economic opportunities
During the session, Mr. Piercristiano Brazalle presented Shreeja MMPO, managed by NDDB’s wholly-owned subsidiary @NDDBDairyServ, the prestigious IDF Innovation award 2023 in the category ‘Innovation in Women Empowerment in the Dairy Sector’. The award was receieved by Ms. Sreedevi.
