I get you want to pretend a TD will be 6 seconds like a fg, but it just isn’t. You kick because it extends the game. Scoring under 10 seconds and it is over.

@bigtimepip @ryan_m_91 @prtllyfnctnl @ScottsOnAir Your math assumes they score at 36 seconds. They had to get the 30 yard TD. That’s the problem. They tried a couple into the end zone before they got into fg range. I mean 30 yards in 30 seconds is hard. The odds of them doing it in what 20?

They would not have had 36 seconds left, and if you spend the time trying to get a TD you can be stuck. This gave them a guaranteed shot if they got the onside kick.

@Slix_OG_ @prtllyfnctnl @ScottsOnAir Drake Maye can throw a ball from midfield to the end zone. A kicker isn’t making a 67 yard FG. The 17 yards matters. If you recover the onside you will get a shot at the Hail Mary. You won’t necessarily get the FG try.

@ryan_m_91 @prtllyfnctnl @ScottsOnAir That wouldn’t be the comparison. To get a 60 yard FG have to get to the 43. A 60 yard hail Mary is possible a 77 yard FG isn’t, The second you recover the onside kick you have a chance at the Hail Mary.

@23ohioVworld23 Sadly I think 2023 was the last “real Game.” It was the last time we will see the game decide who keeps playing. That is what was special. Had to have “ The Game” to win the season.
