It's not all about "us". Never was. Never will be. Those most intimately caught up in Britain's colonial story were the colonized. Their voices, & those of their descendants give alternative perspectives on empire. Something historians have said for decades.
If you rightly condemn Russia for their depravity as they bomb hospitals and kill children, but continue to sell arms to Israel, who have killed over 14,000 children (and counting) and destroyed Gaza's hospitals with impunity, then you are a hypocrite. Simple.
Weighing on me this morning that the reason we see less and less footage from Gaza, is because there are fewer and fewer people well-enough, able, even alive, to document the ceaseless violence on the ground.
Trucks carrying medical supplies denied entry into the #Gaza by the Israeli authorities on July 3 due to ongoing fighting in the south.
We have been unable to bring any medical supplies since the end of April.
Hospitals continue to grapple with acute shortages of supplies.
The flour massacre, the tents massacre, the hospital massacre, the refugee camp massacre, the ‘safe corridor’ massacre, the endless massacres, in homes, on the streets, in tents, on foot— eight months of massacre after massacre after massacre.
@redgierob What type of questions would they be? Interpretation questions? I can't see this working with retrieval style questions? Yet interpretation questions might not have provable "right" answers
@AndiShiraz@moonbeeaam I found it in a used books shop and it was not at all what I was expecting but honestly just such a fun creative idea executed to perfection
Sickened @ukhomeoffice have posted a promotional video about detaining asylum seekers to send to an unsafe country, Rwanda. This is tantamount to state-sponsored human trafficking & it's being done the day before elections for party political purposes.
We are better than this.
If a Rwanda flight does take off…
Your bills will still be as expensive
Your wait for a GP/hospital bed will still be as long
Your court date will still be as delayed
Your taxes will still be as high
…but we will all be more more morally & financially bankrupt as a nation
We've received no food vouchers, hotel or compensation for our 22 hr delay and have lost $150 on costs to our onward travel - I've been awake for 20hrs, no end in sight, and no food/sleep anytime soon, appalling response to a delay
@SpiritAirlines stranded for 22hrs in Ft Lauderdale bc we missed our connection after we were told in ATL that it would be held - here it is, closing the door in front of our eyes- 10 mins & we+others would've caught it.
