What we witnessed yesterday was not dissent — it was disorder.
They weren’t protestors — they were rioters, insurrectionists, and domestic terrorists.
I wish we could say we couldn’t see it coming, but that isn’t true. We could.
I don’t mean to be a downer because I always try to be positive, but I’ve just been battling a mental funk. And to anyone out there who is also, just know you’re not alone. It can’t all be sunshine & rainbows every day...even if we are positive...some days (and weeks) are hard.
My heart is overwhelmed. Today we choose love over hate, hope over fear, equality over racism, respect over bigotry, and democracy over division. We matter. Our voices matter. And we have sent the message that our time is NOW! LET’S GET TO WORK!
truly shoutout to everyone working in mental health throughout the pandemic, i haven’t seen much thanking them and they’re under so much pressure and stress. i talked to my therapist about him for a little bit and he seemed so isolated and sad :(
