Unstoppable force (me not negotiating the contract until the last minute) meets and immovable object (greedy faculty who want health care and hate students)
Couldn’t have written this article any better myself. No need to talk to the union or faculty. Good news goes straight to the source- the EMU administration.

Why would I quit? I get paid half a million dollars. The best part is- regardless of the scandals/bad pr, regardless of the fact that the student body, faculty, and community can’t stand me, and regardless of my administrations lack of success- I still won’t get fired 😂
Just one week ago, we couldn’t afford to pay EMU’s faculty. This week we can. This speaks to EMU’s incredible administration, who were able to locate the money to pay our faculty inside the $316.6 million dollars in revenue and our $752.6 million dollars in assets. Amazing work!
Yes- this whole process has been very hard on me and my investors. It’s going to take at least several nice dinners and golf outings (on the company card obviously) to cheer us up again.
I can’t believe I didn’t get a shout out. To show my solidarity with teachers I haven’t worked all week- or all month for that matter. Per usual this has gone completely unrecognized.
The Negotiating Team worked past midnight last night, and have made some progress on non-economic terms, but not on compensation, so we are back at the bargaining table today.
We continue Picketing outside of Welch Hall. Come and join us on Monday 9/12/2022 from 8:00 am on
Negotiations are under way. And by that I mean that I’m currently negotiating with my wife about how long I get to watch the NFL today. Let’s go Lions!
Of course, we listen to the faculty. The faculty have input on every decision in the college. We listen to them and then do the opposite because - let’s be serious - when have the faculty been right about anything?
